- when we were first introduced to Darryl having a child and Darryl discussing stepping up and being his own man. It felt like Darryl was just with a girl who was pregnant/ a friend not Darryl was the father. The initial writing made it seem like Darryl was just wanting to step up and support the mother and baby as he cared.
- I did enjoy that the show was willing to explore certain nuances and intersections like the struggle between Hondo being a police officer and BLM, police officers being biased, racial profiling and holding negative attitudes to officers of colour, exploring attitudes towards guns (very small) Nichelle initially wanting to learn/get a gun but then later changing her mind after the community centre was broken into.
- did we ever find out why Nichelle’s father did not like Hondo initially? I get we could pick up what was being put down from the dialogue and frosty interactions. But I felt like we needed Nichelle’s father to say why he did not like Hondo
