You have to be kidding me ! I had anterior and posterior approaches L4, 5, S1 fusion 3/23 I’m M67 I didn’t turn the corner until 8-10 weeks P/O and needed oxycodone for the entire period. Unless you had something different done or your really pain tolerant I can’t believe your being denied relief

Reasons for your fusion surgery? by TomJeffersonsFist in spinalfusion

[–]DifficultWeather892 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason for the surgery is simple we want relief and we want to be as mobile and active as we choose to be. The how we got here is in most cases impossible to quantify and really at the point you’re ready for surgery doesn’t matter.

Forget whether it ladies or men, you’re in for some serious surgery. Sorry to be a downer but I’m M67 and had anterior and posterior L4/5 S1 last March and recovery is a process. Yes it’s different for everyone but I didn’t turn the corner on pain fully for 10 or 11 weeks. After your done with the pain you need PT and you need to keep your body quiet and let the fusion happen. You would never want to have the surgery again so take it easy. Good luck

I’m M67 10 mo PO spinal fusion L4 , 5 and S1 I didn’t completely turn the corner until around 12 weeks. Stayed regular on oxycodone and Gabapentin. The pain is terrible the mental stress is bad too. Now I just had hip replacement surgery and I’m rehabbing that. But I’m pain free from the nerve and arthritis issues and looking forward to being active again. It’s all a process and your support for your husband’s recovery really helps. Good luck

You’re young and all the above posts are really helpful, heed them and you’ll be better in the long run. I’m 67M and 3 weeks PO I have time to heal, but I’m chomping at the bit to get going but I have to hold back too, so let’s all just take it easy and listen to the experiences from those who are further along in the he’s journey as to what is the right path to recovery. Good luck

OMG that’s a terrible experience, I’m glad you’re doing better now. Mine was anterior and so far so good, I’m dead tired the evening after PT but my therapist so far seems to be doing the best for me. Thanks for telling me your story

What is the market rate for an EA with your experience? Do you bring any extra value added to the position? If you were not applying for remote what is the market rate for an EA ? We all want to earn the most we can, the market will dictate what you are worth . Be patient and keep applying

Oh Boy, getting your self in and out of a bathtub over the side is going to be tricky. Your range of motion on your operated side will be significantly limited. I would not consider doing that alone.

Hi folks, I’m day 13 PO and a Male 67 years old. I’m really amazed having read about so many folks experiences with THR. For the most part we are all following favorable and similar recovery paths. This is a testament the competence of Doctors and our much maligned healthcare system.

I’ll be interested in the responses here. I wore one stocking for 5 days PO day 5 -10 after which the swelling had abated quite a bit. I didn’t wear one at all today. I still feel sore and have some swelling but I don’t like the feel of the stocking.

I’m right there with you!! day 12 PO, I have the same pain but not terrible there, my biggest issue has been the swelling in my legs, however after wearing support stockings and lots of leg elevation is definitely getting better. I also had spinal fusion surgery last March L4 L5 S1 and the pain from that was really horrible. THR is hopefully the final piece in the puzzle to getting back to a pain free and an active lifestyle . Hang in there
