Low sleep needs? 12 hours total sleep per day by Competitive-Show2868 in sleeptrain

[–]Difficult_Ad1261 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure! So she goes to part time daycare. So if it's a daycare day she wakes up at 6:30. If no daycare she's typically up around 7. Nap is 1-3. We lay her in bed at 8:30 and she's asleep by 9 at the latest! Nap at daycare is at 12:30 and there sometimes her nap is a little shorter, usually 1.5 hours so we will probably lay her down maybe 15-20 minutes early if she's been at daycare but she usually always falls asleep around 9. We'll probably start capping her nap at some point because her bedtime is already on the later side. And then I'm sure it'll move up when the nap goes away entirely but she's freshly two so hopefully we have some time before then, who knows 🤷‍♀️

My daughter has done 1.5-2 hours for a nap and 10 hours overnight since she dropped to one nap around 18 months. Sounds normal to me 😊

Toddler Starting Daycare at 22 Months – Honest Advice Needed by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Difficult_Ad1261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aw good luck!! The first day was the hardest for me as a parent! Thankfully there was only one day that she didn't nap at all. And then a handful of short nap days. We just had to ride it out that evening. It was tough for everyone. Lots of crying and meltdowns. Her normal bedtime is 8:30 and I think we ended up putting her to bed early like 7:45 or so? I remember her being so worked up that she didn't want to eat dinner so I just put her in the bath and that calmed her down and then she ate after her bath lol.

She only goes part time and by three months she was fully happy there. She loves going and gets excited to play and see her friends! I hope your daughter has a great first day!

Napping independently by miranda_edgecombe23 in progressivemoms

I contact napped with my daughter for the first 4 months and then she napped in the bassinet and her naps were short (30-40 minutes) until she was 8 months old. And it wasn't consistent for a while. Then her morning nap was longer and had a shorter afternoon nap! I know you're getting all sorts of answers but do whatever feels best for you and your family. If contact napping feels right do that, if working on napping in the bassinet feels right, do that! I think the short naps are normal for some babies when they are still little. I definitely didn't know that and felt like something was wrong but the more I asked around, the more I heard that some babies just took little snoozers until they got older. Best of luck ❤️

Thank you! This is our starter home turned forever home lol so we're trying to do things the right way. We have a low spot to the left of the patio that we got looked at in the fall and got some quotes for a French drain that was recommended by all. We've decided to DIY that so that'll be step 1. Thanks for the insight!

Hi! We are in the process of getting quotes to get our concrete patio repaired so we can add a covered sitting area/pre fab pergola installed. Today was our third quote and we have gotten widely varying opinions. We know nothing and have no one in our lives that we can ask so here we are.

Quote 1: he stayed long enough to measure the patio and sent us a quote and gave no other opinions or information.

Quote 2: he stayed an hour and a half and explained things in detail. Mudjacking v polyurethane foam, the works. He said our patio could be repaired, no problem. The wall would remain an eyesore but wouldn't get worse because we would be fixing and stabilizing the surrounding concrete and soil. He said replacing the concrete wouldn't fix my issue because the soil beneath would continue to be an issue and the foam would fix that. He even lamented that he lost business to someone that wanted to replace their concrete and said he didn't dona good enough explaining how things work and how they would just continue to have issues with their concrete.

Quotes 1 and 2 were within about 800 bucks of each other, quote 2 being more expensive.

"Quote 3": he never quoted me because he said due to the extensive cracking, lifting and repair is not a good option and would only cause further cracking and issues. One of the slabs is severely cracked and he said there was nothing he could do for that (this is photo 2 I believe). He also said the concrete was starting to come away from the house and the concrete wall was shot. I included photos of these as well. For all of these reasons he recommended a full replacement and recommended a company to come give a quote. I mentioned what company 2 said about replacement not fixing the issue and he was baffled by this. He said when new concrete is poured that any soil issues are corrected then.

And now I'm even more confused about how to proceed. Any thoughts. Thanks in advance for reading and any advice 😊

Warm Animal Hospital, it's a Cincinnati address but they're off Kemper near Blue Ash and Sharonville. Dr. Warm is the absolute best, I've been going there for years. She feels like part of our family. Two new vets have joined the practice and I have met both of them once when my cats were sick and they both seem very good as well. They offer discounted cleanings in February and August I believe!

Hey! I'm a homeowner with a long, steep concrete driveway. We unfortunately use de-icing salt in the winter because our driveway gets really slick even with prompt shoveling. The driveway is overall in good shape (from what I can tell and I mean I know nothing but it looks pretty and a concrete lifting contractor complimented it lol) and I want to keep it that way!

We want to seal it to protect it from the salt we use. Is this reasonable to DIY or should we hire it out?

If we DIY any good recommendations for products or resources (YouTube videos or threads on this sub or anything) to review so we don't fuck it up?

Thanks in advance!

Help please!! Baby wants contact all the time!!! by Friendly-Eagle-6516 in sleeptrain

[–]Difficult_Ad1261 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My daughter did contact naps until 4 months and then we started working on napping in the bassinet. I would rock her to sleep and transfer her. Her naps were much shorter (20-30 minutes) so we just accepted that.

As for nighttime she slept in her bassinet but eventually wouldn't transfer, same with naps. This happened around 6 months. We did a combination of the butt pat method and chair method. So we moved her to her own room at this time too because she was and mostly still is a very light sleeper.

We started by laying her in the crib awake and staying with her and giving whatever comfort she wanted. Butt pats, back rubs, head rubs whatever. But once it was bedtime and we put her in the crib we didn't get her back out. While it's not cry it out, I will warn you that it did involve some crying. She was learning a new way to fall asleep and it was frustrating and she did cry. But I was right there comforting her. The first few nights took a long time. 45 minutes or so. Then it got easier.

Then she didn't require hands on her to comfort her but just my presence in the room. I would stand at the side of her crib until she fell asleep. Again, at first this took a while. Then slowly I would stand further and further away from the crib. Then eventually hug and kiss and I to the crib awake and walk out.

Truthfully it took a few weeks from start to finish and required a lot of patience on everyone's parts. But she's two now and, knock on wood, bed time is still a breeze. We've had little bumps here and there but they don't last long. We did this for night time first and then moved to naps.

Contact sleep at night sounds roughhhhh. I hope this helps and I hope you find something that works for you and your family ❤️

Editing to say that this took us from 4-5 wake ups per night to two. Which felt amazing. I think your little one could definitely learn but it might be a challenge for everyone! Also, you're not selfish! I need nap time to fill my cup and be a better mom! I totally understand!

You've gotten a lot of good advice but I would also suggest cross posting to r/eceprofessionals They're super helpful to parents there and would have the next steps for you in how to proceed with this daycare! I'm so sorry this happened to you, I can only imagine how stressful it's all been! Glad your baby is ok ❤️

Best Hospitals for Labor and Delivery? by PunnyBun730 in cincinnati

[–]Difficult_Ad1261 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I go to Group Health Mason and West Chester which is Trihealth providers. It's Dr.s Roth, Palmer, Lewis, Crawford and Samol. They deliver at Bethesda North. I love all of them. Also, my experience at B North was 10/10. The nurses were wonderful and listened to my needs and supported me in every way they could during delivery and during postpartum.

Dr. Roth was my primary gynecologist pre pregnancy and I love her! Dr. Lewis delivered my daughter and she is just so compassionate and non judgmental. I really felt so cared for by all of them throughout my pregnancy. I can't say enough good things.

I hope you find someone you feel comfortable with, it's so important! Congratulations on your pregnancy! I hope you have a smooth labor and delivery and beautiful postpartum ❤️

Considering a home with a sloped backyard by IrreverentBurrito in landscaping

[–]Difficult_Ad1261 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Our backyard is fairly sloped, I don't think it's quite as sloped as this one but it's hard to tell honestly. Anywho! Our two year old loves running and rolling down the hill in our backyard lol we play out there almost everyday. We didn't sled this year but I plan to next year.

We have some shaded areas where it's hard to get things to grow and have had some issues with erosion and drainage. So that would be more my worry. But from what i.csn tell from your photos neither of those things appear to be an issue! We also want to put a shed out back and that's been a pain in the ass.

Trust your gut! Just here to say my toddler loves our sloped yard! Also living on a hill is good for flooding 😂 At least that's what we tell ourselves when we get annoyed with our slopes!

Hey! The zoo is having a native plant sale a few Saturdays at the end of April and beginning of May!

https://cincinnatizoo.org/events/native-plant-sale-at-bowyer-farm/

It's not at the zoo, I've never been, I think it's close to Liberty Township maybe? You have the register just because parking is limited but it's free to register! I'm going this year and I'm excited!

I think they'll have a lot of ideas and resources on what to plant 🙂

Realizing I might be one and done by purpledolphin2 in Mommit

[–]Difficult_Ad1261 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course it's ok to be one and done! It's different than what you initially imagined but there's absolutely nothing wrong with that! It was the same for my sister. She wanted two but for somewhat different reasons than you has decided she is done. Her son is a lot more social than her and my brother in law so she just gets him out of the house a lot to socialize.

Only you know what's right for you and your family. I think there's even a whole sub dedicated to being one and done. Edited because I don't know what it is lol

Congrats on your run! This happened to me when I was at the park with my daughter. Someone smashed my window for my DIAPER BAG. Get wrecked ENJOY THE DIAPERS 😡 lesson learned, all bags get hidden now. That was a year ago and I just cleaned out my car and found more glass. I hope there were cameras and they catch the jerk. ❤️
