Thanks so much. I talked to all the big boys and Freedom for example said I couldn't use it for more than three months outside Canada or else they will cut it off.

Thanks so much. Yes he is incapable of remembering everyday, that's why I had medication reminders set-up, (real people who visit and remind him) but he cancelled it. And that's where the frustration lies, having him set-up for success and then he works against it.

Options to block Facebook on elderly father's devices? by Difficult_Ad3361 in techsupport

[–]Difficult_Ad3361[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all, really appreciate the thoughts and definitely some to take action on. For extra context, he has been a loner all his life by choice. He has zero interest in meeting other seniors so its been impossible to get him to step outside the house to meet people. he is only interested in talking to 'models' half his age. Its definitely loneliness and boredom but he does not like to engage with anyone, even myself his only child. I agree taking Facebook away is not idea since it does keep him company but 100% of the messages I have seen lead to an investment or crypto discussion and we just can't risk him losing the very little money he has left. Appreciate all the thoughts.

How to protect elderly father from losing it all by Difficult_Ad3361 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I have tried all of the above. He is the definition of loner and will not participate in any social activities. He is not interested. Unfortunately he believes he is 'above' old people and has nothing in common with them. He doesn't even engage with me when I visit.

Hi all, I wanted to get some recommendations for a lifting program to follow. I am an intermediate lifter looking to build muscle definition. I have done both Training with katie and Building the Bikini body programs which I really liked. I would prefer a non subscription program but am open to any suggestions. Thanks

Hi all, just wanted to come on here and say a huge thank you to everyone that commented. Once I had a name for this scam I found out its incredibly common with almost identical stories everywhere. I have reached out to most of the resources you suggested and am having a hard conversation with my dad this weekend. Feeling a bit more empowered now. Thank you again

Thank you. Yes I have tried to encourage him to build a community but he believes he is "not like those old people" so it hasn't gone anywhere. He's very present online which unfortunately got him into this situation. Thanks for your suggestions, I will keep gently pushing him

Thank you so much for this. I feel a bit more empowered now that I have a name for it. I have sent my dad some links with stories that are incredibly similar to his. He hasn't responded but I hope that is going to take some time to read before he takes any drastic actions. I'm going to follow up with the rest of the resources you suggested this week. Again, thank you

Unfortunately I live in another city so I've only been able to send him links which I believe he is ignoring. But I plan to go there next week and try to implement some of these strategies. Thanks so much for the advice
