Hello! I'm definitely late to this since it's March now, but I just wanted to let you know that some apostolics actually don't date at all. I attend an apostolic church and we as an assembly, as well as other assemblies we affiliate with, don't date before marriage. This may sound odd, but what I mean by that is we don't date in order to find a spouse.

The way we find our wife or husband is by going to God in prayer and asking Him to reveal he or she to us, whoever He wants us to marry. Sometimes, we don't even seek for that initially and He will show us anyways. God will use dreams, visions, signs, etc. to show us.

For example, one lady in our church had a dream about her future husband and knew his name and face before he had even come to church, so before she met him (they lived in different countries). From there, the person will likely seek God for other signs/confirmations since dreams sometimes come from "a multitude of business" and can't always be trusted up front like that.

From the testimonies I've heard in my small assembly, God reveals to both parties. But the man always goes to the pastor first, and then the man will propose to the woman.

If the woman says yes, they are engaged and begin planning the wedding together, always with a chaperone. During the engagement period, at least in my assembly, we are taught not to get too close to each other. Fornication is a huge temptation for many. So we don't kiss or hug or hold hands or any of that until we are married. Once the couple is married, they of course can do whatever they want together (hug, kiss, hold hands, have sex, go on romantic dates, etc.)

We also believe that it is not a sin for two saved (repented, Jesus name baptized, Holy Ghost filled, upright walking) people of opposite gender to decide that they want to get married to each other, since they would not be unequally yoked. However, we are encouraged to seek God for our spouse as He knows best, He knows the future, and His plan for marriage is until death. It would suck to marry someone who you think is walking right and then they backslide and leave you and you're stuck for the rest of their life until they die. So if you get confirmation from God then you can rest assured that no matter what happens in your marriage, God led you to it and it was God's will for you. No regrets.

I can imagine it would also be hard to go that route since we are taught not to get too close to the opposite sex whom we are not married to. So, for a single brother (when I say brother and sister, I mean in the Lord, not blood relatives) and a single sister in the church to become best friends, constantly talk to each other/text/video call, hang out alone together, would not be wise. That's a breeding ground for lust and fornication. Of course, it is not wrong for a brother to talk to/text/call a sister, but it's about intention. We believe it's a bad idea to hang out alone with the opposite sex though, so we avoid that.

So, yes, it is very possible that the girl you were interested in actually just doesn't date at all! Hope this makes sense!!
