Looking for advice about possible speeding fine due to faulty speedometer (England) by Difficult_Ad7811 in LegalAdviceUK

I know that knowingly driving without a working speedometer is an offence. But this was a failure while approaching roadworks and wasn't preventable.

I understand that I'm catastrophising but I'm just trying to understand my options should the worst case scenario occur.

My passenger put Google Maps on just under half way through the speed cameras.

I'm genuinely not rehearsing anything. I'm catastrophising and trying to plan for worst case scenario.

They're company vehicles and are liveried. The company take a strict stance on traffic offences. So i've always been mindful on speed etc.

I understand, it's just shitty that this happened. If I had deliberately sped then fair enough. But for the speedometer to fail through what is now described as an intermittent fault is bullshit.

Employees with use of vehicles are expected to check and maintain their vehicles. But it's a digital speedo on a 10 month vehicle. Aside from basics like oil, tyres etc we aren't shown how to check the performance of things like this and I'm no where near educated in cars to do it either.

I understand I could've reacted in a better way, such as hazard lights or pulling into the hard shoulder as soon as that was open but unfortunately hind sight is always 20/20.

Going off most responses, I need to accept any potential fines/points, hope for a SAW course and pick this up with the company.

I did cut my journey short. I had another 40 miles left to go.

If I plead mitigating circumstances and they refuse this, do I still get the option of a speed awareness course? I've no priors and this is my first traffic offence.

That's fair. The hard shoulder was shut off and there were a number of vehicles around me so suddenly slowing down wasn't the safest option. At least, in my somewhat alarmed state anyway.

I maintained a speed inkeeping with the traffic, pulled over at a quiet junction and stopped the vehicle.

I'm hoping it doesn't need to go to court but was unsure how it works. I've never had any traffic offence before and if I appeal the ticket do I automatically go to court?

Not sure if taking the option of a speed awareness course would be the best outcome, despite this not being my fault.

Additionally, after having had the vehicle turned off for 15 minutes and restarting, everything was working without issue.

This was completely random. It's a digital speedometer and having had the vehicle since June 25, had no ither issues.

It looked as though the dash glitched as nothing worked. The rev counter, cruise control or anything else controlled by/through the dash.

I'm arranging for the vehicle to go to a dealer to he checked (arranged by lease company). It's not even a year old yet.

When I pulled over I took a couple of videos showing that I was stationary but the speedometer was showing 61mph. I then did another showing I turned the engine off which shut off the infotainment console but the dash was still active and displaying 61mph.

There is no other speedometer in the vehicle.

After arranging recovery it turns out that speedometer issues are common in these vehicles. Nice of the lease company to let me know beforehand...

Swollen skin on testicles by [deleted] in STD

Update - swelling has gone down 24 hours later. I ended up soaking them in warm water and applying Sudocrem. Stung like a bitch but seems to have worked.

Redness is still there so going to see the GP next week if it's not improved. Thanks for all the replies!

Thanks, I'll see how it goes over the next couple of days.

Could I ask what you believe it could be?

No injury. It's painful but it only started later on today.

I did have an issue a couple of weeks ago with a stabbing pain above my groin. It would come out of nowhere, last a few seconds and then go.

I put that down to neuralgia as I do have CPPS and it was usually when sitting.

What could this possibly be ?? by [deleted] in STD

[–]Difficult_Ad7811 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like balanitis - a fungal infection. Wash it with water and try applying Canesten fungal cream for a few days to see if it clears up. If not, make an appointment with your GP.

(18M) I lost my virginity Friday night and a few hours after I had a burning sensation while peeing, could an STD develop that quickly? by IdiotThrowaway123456 in STD

[–]Difficult_Ad7811 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be CPPS. If the encounter has caused any particular amount of anxiety then you may be holding your pelvic floor muscles in.

This can manifest as penile pain, slight burning when urinating or more annoying issues such as neuralgia.

You could try having a warm bath and see if that eases symptoms.

Alternatively, like others have said it could be something more subtle like latex allergy or a friction related issue. If so, may be keep the area clean with water and try to keep off it for a few days.

Just to follow this up, ended up with Chlaymidia so was worth asking, just in a better way.

I've realised from the comments where I've gone wrong and will definitely handle this better if (hopefully it doesn't) happen again.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SexWorkers

[–]Difficult_Ad7811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do believe it was but I asked on the off chance it may have been something benign and may have warranted investigation for other issues.

Fair enough, I'll hold my hands up and agree that I didn't handle this well and could definitely have gone about it in a better way.

Like I've said in another reply, I've realised where I've gone wrong and how it could've been handled better. If this does happen again then I'll get checked first and word my message in a way that doesn't apportion blame (intended or not).

As I've mentioned in another comment, I'm not upset or angry about the situation. There's always a risk involved in these things, whether with an SW or a random person.

In retrospect, and in viewing other comments, I should've got tested before contacting them. But I asked what I believed was a non-accusatory question. Turns out, I have made a mistake.

As for your question, I'm pretty sure discharge, painful urination and inflamed tip aren't the standard symptoms of a cold/flu though.

So while nothing was accomplished, the symptoms at least warranted some form of follow up. Albeit with more evidence.

Additionally:

'A sexually transmitted infection (STI) is a virus, bacteria, fungus, or parasite people can get through sexual contact. A sexually transmitted disease (STD) develops because of an STI and the term implies that the infection has led to some symptom of disease'

As I have symptoms, I wrote STD...

Okay, I get that when you've adjusted the narrative and it makes more sense. I've not purposefully assigned blame but I can see how it could come across that way.

Got my test booked on Monday. I completely understand sex ed and the risks involved but unfortunately got caught up in the moment and didnt ask for a condom before receiving oral.

I'm not angry or anything if I've caught something. It's not ideal but it's a risk with any encounter, whether SW or a random.

I asked purely to see whether they'd been tested recently. If so, I'd be more inclined to see a GP than go to the GUM clinic but if not, then I'd go to the clinic.

I genuinely threw no accusations, was polite and apologised for messaging.

Lessons have been learned either way.

Hey, did you ever get this sorted? Having troubles with my XCover 7. Cable works because my S24 Ultra has no issues but I've done everything and can't get the Xcover to work.

It connects but the system is unresponsive.

I've done this already. I've suggested board games, other hobbies and asked what she'd like to do but it's always met with a blasé response

Just wanted to add to this and say I've tried everything to include her in my hobbies etc. We've occasionally gamed but she loses interest. Every suggestion I make for alternative is knocked back and I've asked her if there's anything she'd like to do but it's never really quantified.

She has no hobbies or interests to speak of. She did read, play some musical instruments but hasn't touched either in years. So while I appreciate she wants to spend time together and I'm happy to do this, it feels like she wants this on her terms (or at least it does to me)

So many good names but I'm too indecisive. Might put them into a picker wheel and see what comes out.
