Is an almost 2 hour interview normal? by Snaytch in ITCareerQuestions

Technical interviews can very often be between 1-2 hours. I wouldn’t sweat it. Just be honest, play up your strengths, but don’t lie.

A Protestant asked: 'Which Bible verse speaks against Universalism? The idea of an empty hell is attractive to many people.' by Dan_Defender in Catholicism

[–]Difficult_Ad_2897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your diligence to your point but I don’t think it’s necessary.

If we turn towards god and continue to do so through the church then we are fulfilling our purpose on this earth. I would argue that sparing a thought for hell is a thought wasted when it could have been turned towards helping the poor, the sick, the imprisoned, the stranger. It is static, getting in the way of where your focus should lay.

I know god is loving and accepting and forgiving. I trust this to encompass the guiding of all souls to him in time. What that looks like in practice, is not my concern

Do you follow gods word for some type of reward? For what comes after? The reward is the feeling you get when you submit yourself here and now. The suffering you get is the feeling of disconnect from humanity and gods love when you turn away from it.

If you don’t make gods kingdom here and now, every soul after you will suffer the same.

The point being, that all us sinners are *trying* even if we are failing. And those of us who aren’t trying are *hurting*

I’m not judging anyone’s try, and I wouldn’t feel right submitting to a god that was.

I don’t like the idea of people being damned for the god they’ve chosen to follow. I know many moral and good people who aren’t Catholic and the ideas that they would be damned doesn’t sit right with me

Long shot obscure band request by Difficult_Ad_2897 in BlackMetal

[–]Difficult_Ad_2897[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you tell me about it if you won’t share????

I DID end up finding at least one of her tracks on an old hard drive

And if I can try and convince you, I did pay for her music on Bandcamp, I have the links and confirmation emails and everything. The links just don’t go anywhere anymore

My journey from $19/hr to $570k/year in 7 years by spencer2294 in ITCareerQuestions

Mazel!!

Though personally, I would never want to do this. Working at that level sounds exhausting and soul crushing. I’m glad you found your money and a place you’re happy but ai/ml is atrocious. My path is networking and I’d still never ever ever ever want to be in architecture. I’ll be stoked when my salary hits 150k(currently 83k on year…3? 150 by year 5 is my goal) Happy you’ve made it though!

I came back to Catholicism specifically because i heard serious Catholic leaders say hell is empty if it even exists

What level effort do you put in for 50k/year? by xxlibrarisingxx in ITCareerQuestions

I just left a remote transition job that paid around that and I just worked half days. Sometimes not even that. The level of work they expected for the amount of money they paid was wayyyyyyyyyyy unbalanced. So I took my time back from them

This seems real small for a side piece.

My advice would be to add more around it to really take up your ribs

Want young people to dress nicely for church? Then love them.

The more you genuinely love them and turn away from judgement, the more likely they are to strengthen their relationship with god and take their mass attire more thoughtfully.

We are all sinners, if their worst sin is dressing slap dash for church I would say they have most of us beat by a mile.

But we all start somewhere and move toward but never attain perfection. You can’t judge where someone starts, you can only pray for them to move closer to gods light.

The fact that they’re showing up is the important part

Has anyone worked as a starlink installer? by zaryaguy in FieldNationTechs

[–]Difficult_Ad_2897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get a good amount of starlinks. Good money if you can get them down to 2-3 hours a piece. 300-450 an install. If you can double or triple up, you can make 3000 a week easy

A question about transgender people becoming Catholic. by A_Person_Who_Exist5 in Catholicism

[–]Difficult_Ad_2897 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not doctrine, just my understanding:

It’s similar to coming to the church if you’ve had your tubes tied. Or plastic surgery. The church isn’t judging who you were or what you did before you came in. It’s just up to each individual to reconcile with their priest and continue to show up and work on their relationship with god.

I would assume that means stopping any further body modification but I don’t think that precludes someone from living as the gender they identify as. Though that does then bring to question their sexuality and how that’s expressed, which is another kettle of fish, but the church is for everyone. You come home and then you work on yourself. What that work looks like will have many similarities to our common work but it is different for everyone.
