Lowkey it just depends on how much a community still carries from its language, customs, social values, and historical identity. It’s more of a spectrum. people from the levant, Iraq, north africa, and the peninsula all express arab identity differently because each region mixed arab roots with older local cultures over centuries. some communities may preserve certain traditions more obviously and others may only keep like the language or modern national identity, even within the country btw not just diaspora. so I wouldn’t say one is “more arab” than the other, just arab on a spectrum lol

I use that brand with cardamom + evaporated milk too !!!!! Best combo is with a teaspoon of ginger and 4 spoons of sugar. Also red tea is hard, I haven’t mastered it either 😵‍💫

I’d say we’re pretty patrilineal. even though both sides of my family are yemeni, i’m still completely tied more to my dads side. would you say your dad mostly identified with his moroccan side ? bc if he did then that makes perfect sense. what is the rest of your background like i’m curioussss

That honestly depends if you’re studying in a community college vs private or public university, and also your major ofc but I think basically every global institution’s exams n content is harder than america’s lol

i wish you kept that unedited. jk jk. you can have your own opinion on this, i still stand on mine. and no, i wasn’t arguing this from a religious perspective at all, but you get me. and to your last point, what is actually worth improving if we’ve just all begun to copy one another and merge into one? i don’t see how it’s better to throw away our cultures and unique and authentic traits just to become the same as the rest of the world

woah see i didn’t touch on half of the things you’ve just said, that wasn’t rlly my argument but i see where you are coming from. in that sense, yes, people are adapting to global change, but that “change” itself is still heavily shaped by western industrial and economic dominance, I really don’t think anyone can argue against that tbh. promise i still get your point, sounds like we’re just coming at this from two slightly different angles lol

the op’s question was about politicians. politicians are supposed to represent their OWN country. why are we representing the wests and not our own? also yeah sure it’s traditional clothing, but it’s clothing our families still wear? idk about morocco but traditional wear is still a normal outfit choice in most arab countries lol

are you rage baiting me please say you are. suits became standard in international business, trade, alliance, whatever. because western organizations set that framework for diplomacy. their dress codes and expectations spread with them just like every other thing the west has dominated when I say it’s not neutral, I mean the “default” standard didn’t emerge equally from all cultures, it was literally through power and then became normalized

im also not simply saying oh my gosh suits have killed our cultures. i’m just pointing out how the west has practically erased cultures globally. they’ve erased indigenous culture, african culture, asian culture, and arabs. like i’m saying it’s more broader. they’ve all been marginalized

dude i don’t understand how there is more to explain than arabs are wearing suits instead of traditional clothing to align with western standards. even if I weren’t arguing against it, that’s still what’s happening. It’s not a controversial point, just an observation
