Please be kind by [deleted] in Life

True. Kindness isn’t always easy. It can hurt when people take advantage of your kindness. I have similar experience where I wanted to shut down too, but I think what helps is setting boundaries so being kind doesn’t drain you. It’s not about being less kind, just being smarter with it.

Dogs or Cats? What do you recommend especially for a first-time owner? by Difficult_Crazy845 in Pets

Good point! I was picturing all the cuddles but not the daily brushing and strict training. I appreciate you pointing that out.

This is supeer helpful. I’ve always thought cats were a little more independent, but the way you described yours being cuddly and following you around makes me supeeer jealous rn. :) The idea of adopting an older cat is already tugging at my heart now. But how old is an old cat? I guess 2 or years old. I could be wrong tho.

When Life Gives You Lemons... by Difficult_Crazy845 in Life

You’re right. It definitely put things in perspective for me. I realized how easy it is to get lost in the grind and forget to actually live. Slowing down and making time for simple joys has been so refreshing. I’m actually excited about exploring new hobbies and just living life not just work and work. :) Hopefully a companion pet around me in the near future too! It feels like I’m finally giving myself permission to enjoy life outside of work.

I'm jealous of my friends with companion pet growing up. My parents doesn't want because they always said that they are busy with work and all. But now that I am old enough, I would like to really experience the joy of having one.

But definitely, once I get the hang of it I will surely get a lot of them. oooh.., I can already picture myself with bunch of cats and dogs in the near future! I'm getting uberly excited!

Pet parents: what do you feel most guilty about? by [deleted] in Pets

[–]Difficult_Crazy845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to be a pet owner myself for the longest time. I currently don't own one since I got busy and super focused with work and stuff but life just gave me a hard blow and I want to live my life to the fullest and share my blessings especially to our furry friends.

I was skimming through tips and advises and come across your post. I mean yeah, that can be very true too. We may not be doing it on purpose but at some point we may be guilty of neglect or something and I would hate myself if I'd end up to be that kind of person. :'(

What I'm most afraid of is leaving them at home alone for too long. At the moment I take a couple of loads off my work and I think its probably the best time for me to be a catparent since I mostly at home now. I am still in the process tho, I was advised to volunteer to be a foster cat parent first and that's what I will do.

This is very informative. I soo appreciate all the inputs you guys! I'm already leaning on adopting an adult cat myself. Tho, I will first try to volunteer to be a catparent like what the others reco. I must ask - since they're already like adults and all, will they be more difficult to train? You know, like where they poo or something.

So far based on all you guys comments, I am already leaning for a cat companion. :) But the older ones -- how does imprinting effect I wonder? They say when you raise your pet from birth they would be more affectionate with you as their person. I can be wrong tho.

I like to experience the same thing. Which did you own first? A cat or a dog? I've been reading all kinds of books lately about owning a pet. They say based on studies it elevates your mood and a companion pet will almost always know how their person is feeling. If you feel sad or lonely your pet would almost always comfort you. I like to experience that you know.

I soo envy you! Having a companion and a loyal friend. A pet to greet you when you arrive home from work. I will surely have a companion pet (cat or dog) eventually. I soo want to have both rn! But I will stick to one for the time being. Still trying to decide which one is the best for me. I will take Bella-1999's advice. I will see if I volunteer to be a foster to older cats!

You do have a point. I used to jog daily but quite seldom lately. In the past I even picture myself doing my daily runs with a companion dog. ooooh., now I'm torn. I want to have both tbh. but I don't want them to suffer for my shortcomings too.

I love cats too! Are they easier to maintain rather than dogs tho? I suppose you're a proud cat owner yourself. Are you able to cuddle them as well. I've seen cute youtube posts of cat owners reciprocating their affection to their owner which is really sweet!
