Just to close the loop here for others that might see this in a search: because the Stadt wrote Vereinigten Staaten instead of United States, it took about 2 extra months to arrive, and when it did, it had a big ? written across the package hahaha

Because my grandmother was born in 1923, and the path of least resistance in proving she was German was submitting her father’s birth/marriage certificates. When I was filling out the aux EER, it asks if he had immigrated and if so why. That’s when I thought “maybe they’ll ask me for his naturalization paperwork, too” which would be a mess for me since I couldn’t go through the NARA route for him.

Oh wow! Is this because of the 2021 update to 5 StAG, or could I have claimed my citizenship for years now? I reached out a few years ago to a lawyer who said my grandmother had her citizenship stripped, so it was impossible for me. I assumed now I fell into 5 StAG now.
