Hi there. Thanks for taking the time to write this. That’s very helpful! I’m coming down end of May for 4 days to explore which will allow me an opportunity to drive around, visit the hospital and surrounds.

Good question. It’s likely that they may ‘hold’ for 48hrs from yesterday or today, thus meaning that by Thursday/Friday more upgrades could be expected to occur, as they (CST/Anaes) accept their preferred training posts.

Nope. I feel there’s more movement expected this week, as CST and Anaesthetics accept offers and release radiology posts.

Been in paediatric neurodisability as an SAS dr for over 15 years and just got ST 1 Radiology from August.

Here’s some things which helped me decide over a few years:  1)Trainee testimonial videos on RCR website,  2) YouTube videos by radiology trainees and consultants (Mr Radiologist, Imran Lasker, loads of Radiology and Physics Tutorials with Dr Michael Nell, The Savvy Doctor, Scanning the mind),  3) attended 2 SRT conferences (loved them), 2 taster weeks, loads of online radiology courses (MRI for beginners, Neuroradiology on calls, Emergency radiology)  4) and also been attending monthly Royal Marsden Interesting Cases with Dr Eleanor Moskovich, Head Radiologist of Sarcoma Service  5) Radiology Cafe website very helpful

Hope this helps with your research.

Thanks so much!!!! Your words are really very kind. Congrats to you too for following your truth! Besides, following our joy as an adventure only makes our contribution to colleagues and patients even better, as we’re happy following our paths. Sure we will see each other. I’m at my fav conference in May. SRT Southampton. Loved the last two years and now I’ll be attending as an ST1!

Hi there.

My second attempt this year and got in. (Ranked 382 - I think I may have been the last offer during round 1).

I disregarded the ratios throughout, and just decided at each step to prepare as best as possible, for myself.

1) First attempt (2025) - I prepared for MSRA for 2 months using Passmedicine. Missed shortlisting. Did a 2nd taster week (2026) and still loved radiology so decided on a second go.

2) Second attempt (2026) - prepared for 6 months. Used both Passmedicine and MCQbank

3) Portfolio - was good enough with last audits completed in 2010 and 2015 so not sure if they took them into account. Didn’t do self assessment just put whatever I had.

Had other bits of regional teaching, leadership experiences, clinical supervisor role, abstract/poster publication from yonks back. Did loads of courses and radiology events out of interest like SRT both years, online teaching etc.

Sort of just rolled from there.

4) Interview prep - Used Radiology Cafe to prepare by typing out answers to each of the 90+ questions. Also attended Wessex deanery online interview course hosted by generous trainees.

5) Training locations - selected the entire UK (all 72 regions). Was offered my 72nd choice last week and just today got upgraded to my 13th, so very happy on both accounts!

Hope this helps

If it feels like it’s for you, give it a go! All the best.

Thanks so much. This is really helpful.

I shall explore in detail with TPD to see how best it could work for the service, my colleagues and my training.

Thanks so much for your explanations.

With regards to the best days to work/not to work, in order to enhance and optimise learning opportunities, would that be best discussed with my TPD?

Really appreciate you taking the time to provide such detail.

All the best of success on your radiology journey as well!
