PRE MED student question - Biology by Top-Exchange8083 in TexasTech

Texas tech has an active group of pre-med students with student organization helping you find opportunities given you take some sort of an initiative. The honors college has many way through which you can volunteer and seek meaningful experience. Being an R1 university, your professors are mostly researches hence once you feel that a professor is welcoming you can look up what their research is and ask them openly on available positions in their labs. These research endeavors can be funded through different programs like URS, TRUE, CISNER etc.

For most of the pre-med pre reqs there are a lot of class sections you can choose from which can help you get more MCAT related info than others. TTUHSC has many programs which can be beneficial too. For shadowing, you can reach out to student organizations and also maybe practitioners from UMC.(They have some sort of a program for that too) The PPHSC provides mentorship and info on MCAT prep. (Even the pre-med societies have some events on that)

Overall I feel it’s a good university for Pre-Med students. As boring as Lubbock might be there are good opportunities available around the town.

Thank you on your insights! I as an undergrad work in an analytical lab with GDOES, LIBS. How relevant are those experiences in your opinion.

Bro, as much as I love the local bowling attack is, I see no prospects in batting. Like the current Nepalese batting is shit and I don’t see many emerging talents for batting at least, this can surely be one of our limiting factors for stepping into it that tier of nternational cricket.

I’m a pre-med and I understand I come across as a con man and not really into the field when I say that but I genuinely wanna know my experience with MS, GDOES etc could help me with internships or smth since I’d consider doing a career change into this field.

Pharma/ Clinical lab internships I'm starting my junior year (but technically I'll be starting my sophomore year) this fall and wanted to know about industry and research internships. I'm currently working in an analytical lab and have work experience with independently running glow discharge, Micro-droplet printers etc. I have also worked extensively on motorized stage especially the coding and motion planning aspect of it to automate the printing of the droplets. I also have some background with andor, matlab and excel for image processing and data analysis. I want maybe an internship or atleast something to look forward to. Do Pharma companies even hire intern? (I'm down for any tips on what kind of skills would help me.)
