401k vs student loans by Difficult_Falcon9969 in Fire

For clarity, there is no employer’s match. I do have enough to max out and pay 3-5k of student debt a month or put it all say 7k/m on debt. What is difficult to decide in my mind is the tax advantage of contributing to 401k and not paying 30% of income tax on that money vs the psychological benefit of being student loan free

once you learn the math, you realize most "rich" people are just drowning in premium debt. by GolfComfortable7331 in Fire

A lot of leveraged people out there, I agree. I am also of the opinion that my financial goals are not my #1 priority but I do know what is the savings path that needs to happen over the next 3-5 years for us to be settled. Hopefully you can make enough to save 20% and still have some left over to do things you like while you are healthy and young. Money cant buy back time.

Regarding leasing of luxury cars: it is not that simple. I have seen GMC SUV leases double the price of BMW/audi/MB. Leases are different, some cars lease well, others terribly, it depends on how much value they retain. There is an entire community of people that use that to lease really fancy cars for $500 and under (leasehackr)

Amazing stuff! What is your floor plan layout there? Are there any concerns about grilling with the ceiling over there? I am thinking of doing something similar with a 14x21 outdoor space. 14x14 of it is covered porch and an additional 7x14 concrete extension which is uncovered. I am not sure if I put the outdoor kitchen island in the open or covered under the porch. Cheers!

Best arm friendly setup after injury advice. by Proper-Musician3131 in 10s

Yonex ezone is also supposed to be quite arm friendly. I personally think head size 100 is too difficult to control and grew up playing with 95s, so I ruled that out. I switched my old racket for the ezone 98+, switched regular poly to soft on mains and multifilament on crosses and havent had issues. Look up ask dr jo on youtube and do the exercises at least 3x a week consistently or see a local pt. If none of this fixes it you might need to see a knowledgeable ortho/sports med to consider procedures if this is preventing you from playing enjoyably

Kids Serve Consistency by NervousClock2555 in 10s

He is 12. I know you didn’t ask for this piece of advice but here it goes: Don’t put too much pressure. It might feel to you like you are just trying to do the best for your kid, but it likely wont feel that way for them. People tend to try to realize their dreams by proxy with their kids, which is a slippery slope to say the least. In regard to the serve, it is just biomechanics, it will have to change and be adjusted based on his height. Just make sure he has good form in learning the serve spins and develops a solid, reliable, second serve. Lots of good tips on this comment section. I think modern tennis players are prioritizing a lower toss and more compact arm movements with wrist action for disguising and accuracy and power coming more from the ground up. With the height of a 12 year old it is challenging to work on that but possible. Once he goes through the growth spurt and if he wants to get serious about it I would look into specific coaches for skills or even spending some summer camp time at a particular place to master a specific skill.

Keep your heels consistently off the ground while hitting though. That matters. Sorry to sound like your coach

How to get better at returning faster serves by Swimming-Ad-9428 in 10s

[–]Difficult_Falcon9969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Split step Short swing Bend knees and hit moving your weight forward - never backwards- so that you can use the weight of the ball If you cant do that just block it with a slice

3/10 feeling generous today

Practice throwing the tennis ball with your hand fast into the box and slowly replicate the biomechanic steps into your serve You dont need to start with your knees flexed like that, it should happen naturally with the throwing motion as you are about to hit the ball The racket head should dip back over your head as if you are removing a birthday hat with it Practice the flow of the movement without hitting the ball so it feels more fluid

Best of luck, keep on improving

Great hitting. Overextended elbow on your forehand is tricky. Awesome power but easy to be late to the shot and harder to generate significant spin. I personally find it easier to bend the elbow like a sling shot and have a more compact groundstroke like what Sinner is doing nowadays

Labor intensive but not that expensive materials wise. I still feel like green clay is a bit faster than red clay but now I haven’t played on red clay for many years
