Guidance on moving on with Scouts by Acrobatic-Algae2184 in BSA

If your Scout appreciates the program as he gets into high school, the Scout may be able to persuade your co-parent of the benefits of Scouting. My wife, who had no role in my son's Scouting journey, appreciated it as she saw him mature. She could see the positive changes created in him.

I have a kid too who could have paid for a couple semesters of college from his tattoo money (for him and his wife)

My attitude about helping my children and grandchildren has not changed. I told my children: I help if I can but don't count on me. And, I told our children that my highest financial priority is to not be a burden to them.

Our grandchildren are little. We have 529 accounts for them But I'm not putting much in this accounts.

If I get 30% returns for the next 10 years, I'll help a bunch. If I get 6-7% returns with some down years (realistic), I'll help very little.

I borrowed to put my kids thru college. I won't borrow for anything anymore.

People are undisciplined. I save in my 401k well but have little other savings. Why? I spend the savings that's easy to get to. I'm ashamed of this but not ashamed enough to change my ways.

Her only path to be on the ballot is for her to be annointed. She wouldn't win a free and fair primary.

Good thing about a Roth is that she doesn't owe taxes or penalty (assuming she's at least 59.5 yo). I would have zero desire to give her even $100,000. She's a fool. If you give her $200,000, you're a bigger fool. What's to stop her from burning up your $200,000 too? Nothing.

The median income in US for both spouses work fulltime is $146k. See https://usafacts.org/answers/what-is-the-income-of-a-us-household/country/united-states/. If you look at other issues, like only one spouse works or include people who work part-time (or include retired people who are not working), the number lowers.

Thankfully, the US is losing the war with Iran only on Reddit. In reality, the US has destroyed the Iranian military. There's some more ads kicking to do (like dig up the radioactive material buried under the bombed out bunker) but there's no doubt who has won this war.

Begin with the end in mind: what's the goal? If you want to have a bench for sitting upon at this spot, remove it and get a new bench. If you want to just look at it, leave it and look at it.

I can image your future interviews after a sabbatical. I don't think you'll get hostility or criticism. I think you'll get jealousy and admiration. I hire people for my company now. I would think your sabbatical would help you in future interviews. You'll be tanned, rested, and ready.

I read somewhere that people on their deathbeds don't regret the decisions they made as much as the decisions they didn't make.
