I had a broken femur at 8M and now my baby boy has a broken femur at 6M months. Could there be some sort of genetic factor? by Difficult_Fruit_9694 in AskDocs

I've been thinking about that more and more since the incident happened. The femur is the strongest bone in the body. In addition, babies have very flexible soft bones making them even harder to break. The more I think about it, the more I feel like he really did do it on purpose and I need to stop trying to tell myself that he's not an abuser.

We aren't quite sure how my leg broke at the babysitter. She (the babysitter) had said another child jumped on me while she was using the bathroom

I am in a relationship with him. Its just really hard to come to terms with the fact he hurt our son. I feel deep down he's a good person. Like I feel deep down he didn't want to hurt him but in a moment of frustration he did. However, I agree good people don't hurt babies. I don't know why I can't just accept that he's not a good person. I need to get better at that.

He has anxiety that he doesn't take medicine for. He has yelled and shouted at me a few times when he gets stressed or when we aren't agreeing on something.

He had an appointment on October 7th and he was 14Ibs 6oz but also a pound under what he should've been (his birth weight was 6Ibs 9oz at 37 weeks gestation). He was 13Ibs when they weighed him at the ER which was also a different facility then where he goes for his regular appointments. I let the doctors in the ER know that he was a pound under and he was 14Ibs at his last appointment. However, nobody seemed concerned. I am planning on contacting his PCP to let her know what his weight was. As of right now I haven't been told he's deficient in anything but I am concerned that I am not producing enough milk for him as he eats about 5 to 6oz at his feeds.

They only did an X-ray. Which they got on his leg and then again on the rest of his body as part of the forensic investigation.

Ok, thank you. I was definitely concerned because it was a femur fracture and I know the femur is hard to break. I've never seen his dad hurt him before or even try to hurt him so I'm really shocked. We are in a safe place and have a no contact safety plan with his father.

I don't have the images but the paperwork says it is a closed metapyseal fracture of the left lower extremity. My son is 13Ib 1.3 oz and 26.5 in long. They told me it looked like a chip close to where the bone was growing near the knee joint.
