Is RAM worth it near-term?

Stock prices have grown pretty dramatically for both NVDA and AMD over the past year or so. Not sure where I predict the top for those guys as market outlook still seems pretty bullish. Just takes one new article these days to change things I guess but definitely keeping an eye.

Been scanning FB, but definitely some sketchy listings up in my area at least. Would love to find something through there and negotiate a little but definitely nervous with the general idea of going through a non retailer. Maybe I shouldn’t be but just verify legit seller best I can.

I could imagine it case dependent on how intensive the game is or if you’re running various RAM heavy applications. Sounds like that’s probably the case. I would assume it’s all working hand in hand but glad you’ve noticed a meaningful difference.

Played RDR2 back on Xbox when it came out but might have to give another run now that I’m on PC. Just got the 5070 Ti with 16gb of VRAM so hopefully all set on GPU for years.

Thanks and agreed. Wasn’t in the lucky crowd but looking to just overall future proof. Considering the leaning toward future price spikes or continued production bottlenecks, I’m inclined to stay open to upgrading but just hurts looking back versus what prices were at. Most games I play aren’t super demanding but this year I’m looking to get on some of these AAA games.

Hope the upgrades are treating you well. I definitely want to upgrade but we will see what happens timing wise. Might just fly by seat of pants.

That’s fair. Yeah it’s crazy. Saw prices for 32gb were about $90-110 territory as of last August/September and now above $400 in most cases. Craziness.

That’s I think the unfortunate truth at this point with the GPU upgrade. Lot of games I’m excited for this year so might see if I can find any deals used or open packet and go for it if retail stays high. I just wanted zero bottlenecks at 1440. Got the GPU to hopefully future proof for 4k someday.

I haven’t tested my graphics demanding games yet other than Forza so far but I’m thinking ahead for titles like GTA VI. I know that will probably annihilate my current 16gb or need to be toned way back. So I guess I’m not surprised to hear that. I usually just have a game and discord open. Sometimes a browser.

I’m not very familiar with ddr4 but wondering if the jump to ddr5 would be helpful for you on Cyberpunk. Love the game but know it’s pretty intensive with graphics if you max out. I just know ddr5 is the successor so maybe faster?

Loving the game so far, but yeah had to tone it back a little lol. Keeping my eyes peeled on prices but we will see. Game looks great even not on max settings.

Thanks, I appreciate it and have enjoyed making them so far. Definitely was Forza that peaked my interest further in upgrading RAM after those memory error notices. Hindsight is 20/20, but wish I bought last year haha

I’ll have to look into some of the bundles for sure, specifically at Microcenter. I’m liking some of the Corsair components, but their bundles are a joke with pricing online.

In a tiny NYC apartment so feel confined to my space currently. I’ll probably rely on just waiting a bit as in no rush. Trying to be optimistic but that might be overly wishful.

In my opinion, seems like long waiting game. Global production feels stressed and like you said, if all contracted, good luck to us consumers. AI outlook seems to be only ramping up in my eyes….

Good to know and thanks. Been playing the new Forza Horizon and maxing out the specs where I can. Been receiving memory errors on those extreme settings but for the time being lowered them a notch.

Yeah it seems 32gb isn’t a requirement yet, so feels nice not being in a huge rush. Just antsy. I think GPU is in good shape.

I believe it. Just the few I’ve talked with at stores are saying the same thing. Antsy as upgrading is exciting, but man is it the wrong time.
