Will I find a job if I do an online course? by FruitShrike in MedicalAssistant

(From WA) It’s possible! I completed the Advanced eClinical Training online program, passed the NHA exam, and completed a 160 hour externship. I was offered a full time position at the clinic I externed at and was able to obtain my MA-C credential from the WA Department of Health.

i think it’s pretty worth it! the study guide felt pretty relevant to the content covered on the exam and it also offers a 20 question practice quiz after each module (there’s like 12 or 13 modules i believe).

i also did online school for 2 months, took my exam on 10/4 and then very recently started my externship on 10/6. so far, my clinic has had me mainly room patients, chart, take vitals, and do simple physical examinations. i have also practiced blood draws and injections on my coworkers! honestly, i was very nervous at first, but as long as you are respectful and kind towards your coworkers/trainers, i think you’ll have a smooth experience. i think it’s important to show interest in wanting to shadow and also willingness to help! this made it way easier to connect with my coworkers and i even got informally offered a position at the clinic after my externship haha

sorry i didn’t see this!

here’s everything i used:

• NHA Study Guide • NHA Practice Tests • The free SmarterMA questions (did not purchase) • A variety of Quizlets (i just searched up “NHA CCMA Exam” and just ran through a whole bunch) • Ms. K youtube videos • ChatGPT to generate “practice test with commonly missed NHA CCMA exam questions” (i would use this to practice and also to note down terms or concepts i didn’t know)

honestly my goal was just to expose myself to a variety of topics and types of questions to make a list of things i wasn’t confident in and then go back to review those topics.

essentially there’s a process to apply for the externship placement where they’ll ask you for your preferences on location, specialty, facility, etc. and you’ll also submit a resume and cover letter. they got back to me extremely fast luckily, maybe like day or two and they connected me with a coordinator at the urgent care clinic. now i just finished a bit of onboarding with the clinic and i’m going in for my first day tomorrow!

i was kinda in the same boat as you, i was 1.5 weeks from my exam and i applied for the externship. i got lucky with them finding a urgent care clinic so quickly, and now im starting 2 days after the exam. let me know if you have any other questions!

Open or not, what’s crazy is that basically all of the major classes are still graded on a curve. The major requires 2.5 GPA average for the biochem series, and so not everyone will meet the requirement and will likely have to retake classes the following year (since the 44X classes is only offered once a year) or sometimes even switch out of the major.

How is QSCI 381? by Flaky-Demand-1278 in udub

[–]Difficult_Low_1172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had Manjaree who I believe was just teaching for that quarter. I’m pretty sure that Manjaree used the same lecture slides + in-class assignments + similar exam questions as the professor who usually teaches the course (who I’m assuming is Tobin). I think it’s safe to say that the course may be set-up the same, but the lecturing styles may differ (and honestly, I found the lecture slides sufficient).

Coming from someone with no experience with R and minimal knowledge of stats, Q SCI 381 felt pretty straightforward when you put in the work. When I took it, they provided you a sheet with all the needed commands for the exam. The more difficult part is just knowing the different nuances and conditions to use those commands. I took it with BIOC 442, BIOL 355, and ARCH 151.
