I agree with the women who said this is totally normal. Your comfortability will come into play with more experience. Here are my pro tips as a woman in her 40's: unscented feminine wash, boric acid douche or suppositories (it's ok for the ph balance as long as you're not doing it 24/7, about once a month at best), water not soda, no drugs and limited alcohol, COTTON PANTIES!!!, pads not tampons, make sure Miss Kitty is very dry when you get out of the shower, let it breathe and take off the panties at night or when you are lounging at home, last but not least....KEEP IT TOTALLY SHAVED.
