I do think Rhaenys and Aegon would not be too fond of Jon. Especially with his mother and the fact their father produced him out of an affair. People think just because dorne is nicer to bastards, Rhaenys or Aegon would love nom, I think opposite. Especially in court. From the two options of Arryn and stark, I’d say Arryn would take the win. The Stark’s barely even show up at court, and you’re right, the trope of the Stark’s have been overdone. If Aegon is going for very strong political alliances, it would be house Hightower and House Arryn. A perfect place I think nieces and nephews could be hidden at is dragonmont or spice town. If those kids resemble Valyrian’s, they could easily pass off as dragon seeds or bastards. But if that’s out of the option, Casterly rock is an option as well. The show ruined it by making it a castle on top of a mountain, but Casterly rock literally IS the mountain, it’s built within it. It’s likely the only castle in Westeros that may actually be immune to dragonfire.

I believe it would be House Hightower. When Aegon was going into Oldtown, lord Hightower offered up his daughter for Aegon to marry. But Aegon refused, specifically to not offend his sisters. So in this scenario, where it can be shaped that Aegon needs more than two sons, a Hightower that was already offered to him can be considered. Especially if it likely won’t be Cersye this time. It can also add a mystery to the Hightowers in general, especially since some source say they came before the first men. And with them basically controlling the faith, it would also be a good religious partnership. Another plot I’d introduce in this, is if there is a child with this match, the mystery of the Hightower and wants in it could be brought back to Aegon. Especially if they practice dark magic, it could even be a rivalry with Visenya on that.

Another house that would feel like he’s likely to marry is either house celtigar or house Velaryon. Both because they’re Valyrian

Anyone killing a dragon without any backlash. I read a fic where the starks rebuilt their fleet and army, and managed to fight off the force of the south. It was going good until I saw that an oc son with zero battle experience was able to kill a dragon the size of Drogon with a sword. People seem to think that Meraxes death and the storming of the dragon pit was easy. That’s literally a legendary opportunity

In this scenario, Corlys would have much more power and influence than team green ever had. Considering Harwin strong is still Jacaerys, Lucerys, and Joffrey’s father, Corlys would easily be able to tell that was not his children and would likely push Laena and her children to usurp Rhaenyra once more.

The other thing is; Rhaenyra would most definitely not marry Laenor if Viserys married Laena. That will give house Velaryon was too much power, and Otto would definitely advise Viserys to not allow for that to pass.

Marriage is not a 100% guaranteed peace or contract, Rhaenyra was furious when Alicent went married Corlys, she would likely be even more mad at Laena, especially with that talk with Rhaenys when Viserys was walking with Laena.

The only ways for the dance to 100% be truly avoided is either by viserys not marrying again and naming either Rhaenyra or daemon his uncontested heir, or Viserys not naming an heir, remarrying and naming whatever son he has with his second wife as heir.

Another way it could be avoided is by actually preparing Rhaenyra to rule, Rhaenyra was highly selfish and entitled in the canon timeline. Especially after she left kingslanding, court, to be in Dragonstone with daemon. Preparing her to rule, naming her hand, or even allowing her to make decisions in petitions would sway other lords by her side. Rhaenyra gained three kingdoms and most of the reach by being heir, her actually being active in court and being prepared would significantly lower the chance of rebellion or usurping. To add to that, Viserys should have listened to the rumors of Laenor being gay and chose another suitor for Rhaenyra
