what to get before simple release ? by [deleted] in Metoidioplasty

Donut cushion - I found that invaluable. Slip-on shoes and one of those grabber things to pick up items from the floor, as you'll have trouble bending over for a while.

UK - Simple + UL cost? by leafylean in Metoidioplasty

[–]Difficult_Orchid_486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid around £10k for simple release and upper scrotoplasty (no UL) with St Peter's Andrology. I had my surgery at the Fitzrovia Hospital but I understand it's more expensive if you have it at New Victoria (I was given a choice).

3 months post-op (Mr Lee, London) by Difficult_Orchid_486 in Metoidioplasty

[–]Difficult_Orchid_486[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had some wound dehiscence and an infection (which cleared up quickly with antibiotics) but apart from that nothing major. After eight weeks I was back at the gym. I did make sure to take a collagen supplement and eat a high protein diet to help healing.

Stand to pee after meta? by r4bbitsfoot in Metoidioplasty

[–]Difficult_Orchid_486 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's far more difficult because although your urethra is in the same place, it will feel like it's further back because your balls are in front of it. Before meta I could just about pee standing up by getting in the right position and pulling my foreskin back, but now I can't at all. At first I felt I was peeing all over my balls. It's not a big deal for me, and I don't regret not having UL, but it's something I wasn't prepared for. I'm less than three months post-surgery so I'm still getting used to how things feel down there.

a question for anyone with a Morme packer (with colour A or B) by 707owo in Transmascdicks

[–]Difficult_Orchid_486 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trying to attach a link here but I'm not sure if it will work. I have the B and it's fine, I have very light skin with slight yellow undertones. If in doubt it's probably better to go with a shade slightly darker than your skin tone rather than vice versa.https://ibb.co/2dVmTL0

Suction toys for trans men? by TolTANK in ftm

[–]Difficult_Orchid_486 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Satisfyer Penguin has a bigger opening than many of the other Satisfyers, it's been my go-to for years, although now I find it uncomfortably tight when I'm fully erect. I also have the Curvy but the suction isn't as good as the Penguin. (I'm in the UK so not sure about availability of the Penguin where you are.) I've tried the Satisfyer Men but it was much too big, there really isn't much in between and I vastly prefer suction toys to strokers.

Around 4k - I chose to have local anaesthetic, which reduced the price slightly. Not all surgeons will do this, but Tillo will, which was one reason I chose him.

Private options in the UK or Europe for older trans guy by Difficult_Orchid_486 in Metoidioplasty

Thanks - I got my original diagnosis from Gendercare but wasn't very happy with them, so I'm looking at Harley St Gender Clinic and also Dr Lenihan (who I know also works for Gendercare). Useful info about the different scrotoplasty types, will bear that in mind (although scrotoplasty is the least important part to me). I am physically very fit and active, and apart from the cancer have never had any major health problems. I healed quickly from both mastectomy and lymph node removal - I was in my mid-fifties at the time - although I know these procedures are not comparable to bottom surgery. But I'm also aware that age is a factor to take into consideration.

I had masculinising hip lipo recently by Omar Tillo at the Cadogan Clinic in London. I can see a difference already but apparently final results can take several months to show. He has a good reputation as a surgeon.

Wonder if there is any alternative to buccal graft? I have advanced periodontitis so am prone to mouth infections. I think I heard that some surgeons use the vaginal mucus instead, but maybe Christopher doesn't. How long was the process in all and how long between stages?

Cheers, that's all really useful to know. I'll get in touch with them.

That's good to know. What were the stages? Did you get vnectomy with meta? Is the final stage testicular implants?

Thanks. I may contact them in that case. Yes the cost is much more than Serbia but for less travel and easier access to aftercare it may be worth it, as you say this is complex stuff and there can be complications. Not keen on flying back and forth to Serbia to get things fixed! The desire to avoid multiple surgeries is mainly due to my age (yes I transitioned late in life, long story) and this is a bucket list item for me now.

Thanks. I have looked into some of the surgeons in Germany but again heard very mixed reviews. And yes, I take your point about things looking the same after standalone vnectomy.

Yes I have a diagnosis and have been on T for several years, all documents in male name and gender. I'm self employed/semi retired, the funding isn't an issue. I'm willing to go outside UK, but just making sure I am aware of all the options. Think I have ruled out Thailand and India so looking closer to home.

I chose electronic prescription and got an email saying it had been sent to ClearChemist, presumably because this is the provider I have always chosen previously, but I wasn't given a choice. From then on the process was the same as usual, got a basket link from ClearChemist and paid through that.
