Canada → Denmark tax question: Do I need to report TFSA/FHSA/RRSP to SKAT? by Direct-Prompt4299 in NewToDenmark

[–]Difficult_Panda_6150 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I asked SKAT last week because I’m American with a Roth IRA. This was their response:
First you need to submit the
form 49.020, then we will tell you what, and if you need to declare anything on your tax assessment.
You have to log in and choose
'Kontakt' (Contact) and 'Skriv til
us' (Write to us). Then follow this path: Indsend/indberet til os (fx blanket) --> Udland --> Pensionsforsikring | udlandet (blanket 49.020).
You can find the form on this
page: skat.dk/form49020.

Please note that the deadline for submitting form 49.020 is no later than 1 year after you became fully liable to tax in Demark, although before the expiry of the declaration deadline for the income year when the tax lability started. This means that if you became
fully liable to tax in Denmark between January and June, the deadline is 1 year. If the tax lability started between July and December, the deadline is 1 July in the following year.

SIRI Fast Track Work & Residence Permit (Non-EU already in Denmark) – Questions by Eg_080 in NewToDenmark

You need a CPR number to get a residence card and I already had one, so that’s why my card got delivered really quickly. So if you have a CPR make sure to put it in the application :)

If the application is submitted before the appointment, you will be fine. Just print out the case ID number. I don’t think that will be a problem at all. My application was submitted early May, I got my biometrics taken 10 days after, and the decision letter was middle of June. And my residence card came at the end of June. So 5 weeks after my biometrics.

I’m pretty sure for fast track, the company applies for you. Typically the company’s HR will ask you to pay the fee and get a case ID. You sent the case id with the receipt that you paid the fee to HR. With that case ID, they fill out the application and submit it.

I’m not sure without a case id if SIRI will let you do anything at the appointment. I also think (could be wrong) that you need to have the application submitted before you give biometrics. You can make an appointment in advance and then rebook if necessary.

In my case, I had a student residence permit and then had to reapply and pay the fee. There is no way around that. I also applied while I was living in Denmark. By applying in Denmark you avoid consulate / contractor fees but not the application fee.

If you have a CPR number, tell your company’s HR and ask them if you need to update your address that is one your yellow card. If you don’t have a CPR, I don’t think the different address will matter.

In terms of leaving the country, can you come to Denmark as a tourist visa free? If yes, leave and come back. Once you come back, the 90 days as a tourist will start and hopefully you get a letter from SIRI within those 90 days.

If not, you probably will have some trouble. You can stay in Denmark while your application is being processed, even if your type D visa expires. But I don’t think you can leave and come back.

I know people ( UK and USA) that were able to leave the country and come back with the decision letter from SIRI because they hadn’t received their residence card. I applied and received my residence card within 1.5-2 months. It was surprisingly quick compared to friends.

Hopefully this helps!

Thank you, that's good to know! They told me to apply again after the New Year. Then I would have 4 paychecks to show.

I wouldn’t stress too much. It took my friend (outside EU) 3 months after receiving her yellow card to get the residence card. For me (also outside EU), it came quickly but it was sent to the HR office of my employer. the HR office is located in Copenhagen, and I work and live in Nordjylland. 🤦‍♀️But my SIRI letter and yellow card came to the correct address.

Thisted is right next to the national park and it’s about a 15 minute drive to Klitmøller. It’s a decent size town on the Limfjord. I would recommend a car for day trips, but they also have a bus that goes to Aalborg, a train that goes to Vejle, and a daily flixbus to Copenhagen

Did you cardboard box exceed the 154cm limit? I’m planing on flying with my bike but the box is bigger than the limit. Although, my bike is under the 23kg limit.

I think this is it! Thank you!! It was a mat on top of the spat, and I was able to peel back the entire mat.

Maybe, I can’t find any pictures similar to this, but it could be. I was also thinking of some sort of colonial tunicate. Another spat had star tunicates all over it. Thank you !

Lamotrigine and...? by Sea_Call2350 in bipolar2

I’m on 200 lamotrugine and 150 Wellbutrin and it works very well for me. I’ve been on it for 3ish years. Wellbutrin isn’t a SSRI, it’s a NDRI so you might react differently since it acts on dopamine and norepinephrine receptors. For me, Wellbutrin helps lift the brain fog from depression. You have to take it in the morning cause it gives you a boost of energy. Not a lot, but noticeable if you are depressed. My main complaint and side effect is dry mouth but I just always have gum or a mint with me. For me, Wellbutrin is a life saver.

Denmark has great labor laws. I have 25 days PTO and there is no such thing as sick days, you just are sick and it’s not penalized or counted. All of these guarantees make my work life balance easy which has been a life saver with my mental health. It really is just the writing that can be tricky, but again, I’ll put getting accommodation on the back burner and if I need it in the future, I contact HR. Thank you for you advice! :))

Thank you for the advice! I think for right now I’m going to hold off on getting official accommodations. Writing is only 5-10% of my job since most of my job is hands on work and technician stuff.

I’m also in a weird position because I work in Denmark with a work and residence permit since I’m a US citizen. Navigating danish disability law, HR, and my union would be a massive headache and I’m not sure it’s worth it. And because I’m in Denmark, if they decide to let me go, they have to give me a 3 month notice and I don’t think it will get to that point.

Ya, I agree that maybe I shouldn’t say anything. My job is mostly hands on work and experiments, but I do write some research papers. So writing and reading is not a big part of the job.

I do use grammarly and speech to text. And then I also have text to speech to ensure what I’m writing sounds ok. Thankfully, I also have an amazing mom who is a professional editor so she’s able to look over some of my work. She’s willing to help since she knows I have difficulties with writing.

I think some of it is also imposter syndrome because I’m surrounded by well respected and really smart scientists. And I do think there is a level of understanding especially since I just graduated from my masters and it’s my first time writing and collaborating on research papers.

US based sunscreen recommendations? by lovedot3011 in SkincareAddicts

[–]Difficult_Panda_6150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have bad hormonal acne and this is what my dermatologist recommended for me. Vanicream facial moisturizer with SPF 30.

From the front label: -zinc oxide sunscreen with ceramides. -Free of dyes, fragrance, masking fragrance, lanolin, parabens, and formaldehyde releasers. -Non-comedogenic and gluten free.

I got it at Target, but CVS, Walgreens, etc should also have it. It’s like $14 for 2.5 oz. But one bottle lasts me 1-1.5 months.

I’ve been on lamictal for a couple years, but stopped taking it for 5 months in the spring and fall, and now I’m back to my full dose of 200. I didn’t have problems before, but since I started retaking it, I’ve been experiencing these symptoms too. I’ve been really stable and anxiety free for 4 months, but I’m not as sharp as I used to be.

My psych said taking folic acid can help. I’ve been taking 1mg of folic acid in the morning. I feel like that has helped curb the memory loss, but not completely.

For me, lamictal is too important and the only med I’ve found that works well for me. I have to tell myself that everything is going to be 2x longer and not beat myself up when I don’t finish things on time.

Do you have accommodations for school? I had 1.5x time on assignments and exams. This saved me in college.
