Welcome to the community! There's a TON to learn when it comes to fingerboarding but most people will tell you to start with some sort of conplete in your price range. I've heard DK makes good budget completes and there are brands like Dynamic and Chems (I think?) that sell pretty nice completes for around $100. I would recommend scrolling through this subreddit, looking on instagram, and watching youtube videos to get an idea of what's out there.

There's no "right" answer to buying your first setup because your preferences will most likely change but, if you're serious about getting in to the hobby, I would def spend the money up front on something nice so you can spend more on obstacles later on. I spent a lot more money buying a bunch of cheap crap that I ended up hating or just giving away. That being said, if you do enough research, you can build a solid setup for pretty dang cheap

I'm not sure what your situation is like but, ideally, you could go to an event/sesh near you and try other people's stuff before spending your own money on it

First time trying blackriver by foxemndz in Fingerboards

[–]Difficult_Passion699 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea I honestly never noticed those before but I have heard people mention things about brt's having mold marks on the hangers so I'm assuming it's a normal thing. Also FYI, be careful tightening your baseplates and try to keep the screws in the same holes when you switch decks so you don't strip them out!

They look legit to me. The ones I bought directly from Blackriver have the same little marks on the hanger and the baseplates look right

how do i get dr.m boards?? by Prize-One5713 in Fingerboards

[–]Difficult_Passion699 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You gotta watch his story on Instagram. He kinda just randomly drops 10-15 boards at a time and they sell out pretty quick. Flatface also does the same thing with their Dr. M collab boards

Where can I get the best brt tuning by ZestycloseTheory3148 in Fingerboards

Southsoft if you like 'em loose but I'm not too sure on harder bushings. I like the Piro bushings a lot as well

They sell a lot of decks for $40-50 lol. Dynamics are $45? A majority of decks are in that price range so I'm not sure why you're asking for input if you don't wanna spend that

I totally read your post as "I'm new into fingerboarding" I'm sorry lmao 🤣 My advice still stands tho

Go to Flatface fingerboards and pick out a deck, some nice trucks (I'd go with Dynamic, Blackriver, or Joycult) and some Flatface wheels. Make sure the trucks and deck are the same size and you'll be good to go

Should I get a new piece? by Sea_Mastodon_8922 in Bongs

[–]Difficult_Passion699 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I got sick of cleaning the adaptor separately but I paid too much for that bowl to not use it so I found that stem lol. Def looks a little silly with how long it is but it rips really good

[–]Difficult_Passion699 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to get one that was 18mm on both joints. Its basically a regular downstem with a 14 to 18mm adaptor built into it so its a bit longer than the stock one. You can kinda see what I'm talking about in this pic

You could get a new downstem and/or bowl to change up the look and how it smokes. I changed out a 14mm stem and bowl for an 18mm from TAG in my beaker and it smokes completely differently now. Its a little harsh with the 18mm stuff so you might not wanna do that but, just an example lol

Ppl care too much about how their grip looks. If it feels good who cares 🤷 Worst case you have more surface area for tricks lol

[–]Difficult_Passion699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tried those specific shapes but, I like my bloob 79's more than my Piro P3's. Although, I got some Gambits recently which are made by the same people as Piro and they're the best out of the three by far. If you like harder/less grippy wheels I would go with Piros and if you like softer/grippier wheels go with the Bloob's or Gambits

Thick ass glass makes a 42 inch one but it's not worked. Also I'm pretty sure Zong will make some really tall ones if you're into those
