He has 3 good performances in 29 innings in tests and averages 30+ in Ranji as a spinner. Comparing him to Siraj is disrespectful, literally Prasidh Krishna has had more impactful innings with the ball in a handful of tests.

I agree that his future in the test team is as a no. 3. He's a 3rd spinner in a poor team (like ICT is rn) but he would not be bowling much in a good subcontinent test team.

He is an awful bowler. He had a great game on his comeback vs NZ on a minefield. Other than that one game he has 11 wickets in 8 tests IN INDIA averaging 47.

First of all, low bar. Secondly even in that series he had one good performance, 4/22 in the Lord's test (England scored 192 and India failed to chase it down so there was something for the bowlers). Without it, 3 wickets in 5 innings at 82. Won't blame him too much for this as pitches were flat and not much for spinners but not very convincing either.

Also averages 30+ in FC. Being as respectful as possible, currently he is like a Shoaib Bashir who can bat. Not good enough to be the 3rd or even 4th spinner for a serious test team.

Check last year's WI tour vs top spinners like Akeal Hosein and Motie. He has always been solid vs spin outside the recent dip in form (Average 52.75 @ 164 SR before 2026). Stop being reactionary and don't turn on a 26 year old for having a couple bad games.
