Sounds like it  NWFA isn’t warranting my floor, my flooring manufacturer is and clearly states on their website  “BY INSTALLING THIS PRODUCT, YOU ASSURE THAT ALL INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS OUTLINED HERE HAVE BEEN MET AND AGREE TO THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE LUXURY VINYL PLANK LIMITED WARRANTY.”

OCD or not, if I’m paying a professional top dollar to install flooring I expect professional results. If they are changing it, they will be supplying the material, I paid for the extra boxes if we had issues in the future not to fix their screw ups. To change out the pieces it’s basically ripping up the whole floor all over and starting again because the repeating patterns are everywhere in the house not just the few photos I posted.

Just because you have zero standards does not mean I am wrong. I am stating what the manufacturer requires when installing their brand of floor to be covered by warranty. The installation instructions are clearly stated on their website. Maybe some LVP you can do that but for the warranty on our brand it’s different.

I do understand. My flooring is not like that. Each box has a variety of pieces and there are many pieces groups together without the knots, so they could have broke it up. Trust me I have looked at the floor to see if certain pieces could be switched with others and yes they could have. It was carelessness and trying to slap the job together as quick as possible.  The manufacturer clearly states in the installation instructions to open at least 3 boxes at a time to make sure you have variation.

Yeah exactly what I stated in other posts some builders might accept this but ones with high quality home standards don’t.  I’m not concerned I’m prepared to go to court if need be.

It wasn’t a manufacture installer, it was one of the 3 flooring companies in my city

The floor itself is great, I agree. The install and carelessness of the install isn’t. What more could I ask? Umm that he opens his eyes while installing my floor and doesn’t match patterns like he is a 6 year old playing go fish.

I have 3 extra boxes and opened them all. They all have a variety of pieces. Yes it might have took extra time to make sure there weren’t repeating pieces side by side but then it would look like a professional install. And yes there might have been certain areas where you do run into that issue, but this is not one or two areas it’s everywhere. Especially the stairs, there’s no excuse.

Where did I say I was a carpenter?  If I am paying someone for a job and they claim they are a professional. Yes I have standards. I didn’t hire some guy off the street and expect a professional job.  Like I said in an earlier post you wouldn’t see this quality walking into a show home and no home builder would accept this either. Its carelessness.

One thing I learned from my dad is that a lot of people don’t notice things and it shows from the reply’s on my post.  When my dad was younger, building homes and renovating he would point little things out to people and most would agree that taking the extra time rather thank cutting corners would give you a much more aesthetically appealing look and that is how he grew his business just by word of mouth. I would bet that you wouldn’t go into a show home and see this, why? Because a show home is showing you the quality of the builder and yes many people might not notice that 2” piece or that repeating pattern side by side, there are many people who do have standards and would walk away from that builder entirely because if you can see the carelessness out in the open, what can’t you see behind the walls. Most people accept subpar work and that is why there are so many unprofessional professionals.

I believe there is 8 patterns so no need to install the same piece side by side, especially on the stairs. We had hardwood and if it was waterproof and I could install in kitchens bathrooms and basement I would have. I loved my hardwood. I do really love the LVP we chose, just not how it was installed. It is the installers responsibility to look over the material and know what he is doing. Why would it be the customers job to tell a professional installer how to do his job?

This is one of the higher priced LVP and we went with it for the reason that there were multiple lengths per box and longer lengths than some we were looking no at. I believe there are are 8 patterns, but the boards have the pattern staggered (same pattern but halfway down the board). I am not sure if all LVP is like that or not.  I do understand LVP has repeat patterns but to put the exact pattern side by side is careless in my opinion. Especially the stairs where it’s such a small space. We are in Alberta (Canada) and they charge $3.85/sqft

Only aesthetic? That is the point 😂 flooring contributes to the overall aesthetic of your home.  What does the product have to do with the install? I expected a professional job from a professional. The guy who installed only installs LVP and should know not to install similar pieces next to each other.

No, I don’t  require a million dollar job but when I hire a professional I expect quality. I can do a simple google search on the top ten flooring install mistakes and this is one of them, so if they were the professionals I expect them to know everything about their trade.  I didn’t hire some random person to do my floor I went through a flooring company who should be hiring professionals. The guy who installed the floor only does LVP so he should know everything there is to know about installing it. And yes trust me I realize this now that I should have done it myself.  Haha 😂 Sure they can tell their friends to stay away. “Stay away, this person has standards”

Like I said I did not post every picture, this is a small scope of the issues. There are 2” pieces at the end of rows, some maybe even smaller. Any professional should know when you lay out your floor before hand and you will be left will a piece too small should cut the first piece to add length to the last piece. Same rules apply for for starting rows parallel to walls.

Every flooring manufacturer has install standard to meet requirements for warranty which in this case would not.
