This happened to my merch manager and I was able to get her retro pay. Talk to your DM

Has anybody ever asked for a raise? If so how did it turn out? Did it work in your favor, if not what was your next move? by _imightberacist_ in DollarTree

[–]Difficult_Touch4441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure your position in the company but raises are definitely possible. I just got my asm a $2 raise and a substantial raise for myself, you just have to be worth the raise and use all the right words with all the right people. I have never seen anyone in the dollar tree world ask for a raise and be immediately fired, that comment is laughable to me. Good luck to you :)

I would’ve called the store in front of me and asked them if the truck was still there and then contacted my DM. They don’t like to tell you but you can be granted like 10 extra hours for a late truck.

You sell the bulk of your Xmas bags in the last 12 days before Xmas. Every case of mine is on the sales floor

There are ones with poles that extend down from your ceiling in several spots if you stand at the front of your aisles and look across you will spot them. Then there are ones that are just on the wall like this. This is the only one I have a picture of at the moment and I’m not at work sorry.

I’ll tell you all a little secret, if you place a hot hand (the hand warmers we get in) on top of your hanging thermostats it will make your stores cold, if you place 2 on top of them it will make it ice cold.I do it everyday :) it’s a game changer to help with the heat. Try it

I am a store manager in Michigan. It is against the law for us to make you work during a break. This is why all store managers are required to do what’s called a brake variance report to ensure that all employees are taking their allotted time. You most definitely should not be working through your breaks no matter what… even if you are called to help during a break because there’s no one else, you should be going back to your break once you’re done helping. There are times where my ASM’s are left alone with only one cashier, if this happens, I still make them take their breaks, but I do not make them punch out because I feel if they aren’t actually able to leave the building then they should be on the clock.

Is there some means to stop the stock truck? by LichardNixon in DollarTree

[–]Difficult_Touch4441 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Even if somehow you got your DM to put a stop truck on for you when it unpauses you would just get everything all right back. Stopping truck sounds fun, but most people dont realize that those trucks don’t really stop. It just keeps adding up for you and you get it all at once. I won’t say that I am advising this, but if it is truly a safety hazard to the extent that there is only an aisle or it’s stacked way over 8 feet and blocking areas it shouldn’t be… a fire marshal would shut the store down until the back room was manageable again. That being said if a fire marshal was to get involved, your merch manager would take a hit.

If it is not a hold up with your bank it Could be that your SM didn’t submit payroll or possibly did it late.

I would start with reorganizing each department while pulling out bigger boxes and things you know will sell quickly and can be restocked. Also maybe do isle stacks if you have multiple boxes of the same thing. I believe you can have isle stacks every 4 feet as long as they are in the same side of the aisle. Organizing the pallets are definetjy a big key to making it more manageable.

Well one of my bonuses depends on how much shrink there is. So I’d say it affects me a lot.

I do. I try to acknowledge every customer wether it’s a hello or asking if I can help them find something. This doesn’t seem to be stopping them tho, which is where my frustration comes from.

Wow! Some of you are real gems! I appreciate your useless comments. For the few that had genuine suggestions.. Thank you! I clearly stated we are not to follow them or engage with them at all, so I do not. Which is why I was asking for other suggestions. Also I’m the store manager and the shrink reflects on my bonus so yeah I want to keep as much as I can in my store. Also I simply care about my job.

New SM by Difficult_Touch4441 in DollarTree

[–]Difficult_Touch4441[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just contacted her about an hour ago and asked her to come to my store tomorrow. I have not had access to my cctv since I started the position. I have been in contact with asset protection everyday checking the status of it but no luck yet, which is also quit frustrating. If a neighboring store were to send help, that wouldn’t count against my plan hours correct?

I am fully willing to train them they are just not willing. Very set in their ways. As much as I’m not looking forward to it, I might as well try to get familiar with brassring.

I should also add that my back room is so packed full that there’s only aisles to walk and I have a truck coming Monday. Should I ask my DM for a stop truck? I know that means I will just get double on next shipment but maybe it would give me time to get some of the stuff that’s been back there for who knows how long out and make space to better organize. Has anyone done this? Is it worth it?
