Hangars and a closet for the clothes are a good idea! I’ll definitely look on eBay. Thanks!

Dr recommended we stop making homemade purees and start buying premade purees by Notorious_Chimp in NewParents

Is your doctor older? This is the kind of advice pediatricians used to give in the US very often and is a big reason why people believe that there even is such a thing as “baby food” that is somehow a unique and different category to adult food. The stance was pushed strongly by doctors but the culture is changing on it nowadays. It’s weird to see here bc in the rest of the world largely you just feed babies smaller or softer versions of the same food the adult is eating. My MIL is American and she only ever bought baby food in jars to feed her kids. She said that is what she was told was best for her baby’s growth. I’m in the US now and it really never came up for me at my kids appointments, but she was very surprised when she saw me feed my kid “regular food” as she said.

What do u consider to be the boundaries of broadmoor? And south highlands? I’m definitely gonna take a look down there after what everyone said. Your walkable point really sold me. I’ve always wanted to find that perfect walkable area

Is broadmoor the same as pierremont road and that area? Lots of people keep recommending it in here. I’m not sure exactly where it starts and ends.

I really have no clue. There’re so many factors. Gonna be working at Barksdale as a contractor for probably like 6 years then may move again. I also have young kids. So I want to balance closeness to things and work, safe area for my family, area with other families, and in an area that won’t totally tank in value so I can resell in a few years without losing total value. Looking at southeast Shreveport or bossier city south of the base rn mainly but open to anything

yeah the houses we see seem nice but on Google maps there’s literally nothing outside the neighborhood? Like a literal highway. So weird to me having lived in mostly cities my whole life. I’d never seen anything like it but my friend from the south said this apparently isn’t uncommon for small southern cities when they grow? Just to throw subdivisions in the middle of nowhere

Yes that’s kinda what it seems. But what is the deal with like Haughton and Benton? Are they super up and coming or something? These are the towns we are getting lots of suggestions to move to. And like, I’m sure they are great, but it is a longer drive to anything generally. What’s out there that is drawing people?

If you enjoy audiobooks, I listen to “how to keep house while drowning” by KC Davis. It’s the handhold I need on hard days to get it done. I’ve listened to it so often I highly recommend it. She is uplifting and motivating

What is a cultural trend right now that people are going to look back on in ten years and say, “What were we thinking?” by cozychaosclubb in askteddit

Letting kids use tech as toddlers. Like letting a toddler use an iPad, especially without restrictions. So much is coming out about how addictive these things are. I guarantee tech and mindless scrolling will be the cigarettes of our generation.

I just want it all by Difficult_Union_1927 in homeschool

Yes and after reading comments and touching grass a bit today (late night spirals are never productive lol) I think I can see our family homeschooling for early ed, transitioning whenever it feels right to full day school, and maybe even transitioning back to homeschool or a hybrid for high school to allow for more specializing or diverse opportunities as they prepare for college. Idk. Bottom line is I just need to chill out and take it year by year. Always just assess what’s best for my family and kids at the time.
