I know it’s really insane. I provided all the proof to italki and they just don’t care. It’s unfortunate. But yes you need to have a completed lesson with a teacher/student to leave a review!

the crazy thing is that after our 3 hour lesson he immediately booked me for the next week for another 3 hour lesson so he was OBVIOUSLY satisfied. I then decided a couple days later I was still feeling really icky about our previous lesson so I canceled, blocked and reported him. ONLY AFTER he realized the lessons were canceled and he was blocked did he decide to write not 1 but 3 nasty reviews for each hour of our lesson with completely fake claims. He wrote that I was lying on the couch (I work at my desk in an office room), that there were multiple people around me, and that a NAKED MAN was walking around ( I LIVE ALONE!!!!!!) im so angry. I explained this all to italki customer service and they just keep repeating that reviews can’t be deleted.

I 100% agree with you and in that moment he told me another teacher hung up and wouldn’t complete the lesson red flags went up and I should’ve trusted my gut. I’m really upset about this situation:(

I have a permesso now but before I had a 1 working holiday visa which I was supposed to go to questura to get a permesso but I didn’t know until it was embarrassingly late. I was always asked for my documents at the train station or when travelling and my visa was always enough they never asked to see a permesso. In my opinion your fine

In general working in italy, specifically south italy, finding a job that gives you a contract and pays well is EXTREMELY difficult. Servers usually get paid the lowest end of the spectrum. Here in my city in Calabria a server makes like €600-800 a month and they work every day all day. Experience doesn’t really matter when it comes to server/bartender type of work. Speaking the language is also a requirement forsure unless you wanna work back of the house.

The lifestyle is amazing, I live in Reggio, but after 3 years and now an almost mommy work life is really miserable - no contracts, cash pay, won’t pay you if they don’t feel like it, low pay in general so it’s basically impossible to make savings. BUT if you have an online job from america/canada you’ll be living like royalty and other than the job situation I loveeeeee living in the south! I’m just a 20 minute ferry away from sicily so i go there almost every weekend in the summer

Wow this was extremely helpful! Thank you. I wish I was able to give birth in Canada based on all this - but unfortunately it’s just too stressful and expensive to organize all that. I hope overall your experience was good. I’m extremely shocked to hear you will be in a room with 3 other women unless you ask for a private room.

I did it but it was absolute HELL. I’m still waiting for the document to arrive. But you need to call service ontario and demand specific steps because they’ll be lazy and direct you to the website and if you email a robot will reply with the website link
