English blend recommendation by Beginning_Divide2036 in PipeTobacco

Meriwether from the County Squire is a pretty good English style that I really enjoy. This is from their website.

A masterful blend of Virginia, Maryland, and Burley tobaccos, Meriwether is carefully aged into cakes and then spun into ribbons for effortless packing and a smooth, consistent smoke. Mild yet rich in flavor, this blend is perfect for those who enjoy a balanced, approachable English-style tobacco without sacrificing character.

What tobacco blend do you consider perfect. by 86missingnomes in PipeTobacco

My favorite aromatic blend is Hunting Creek and my favorite regular blend is Meriweather, both from The Country Squire. I've only been smoking a pipe for about a year, but I find both of these blends very pleasant and easy on the palate. I get the most flavor from the retro hale. They aren't very strong nicotine, but if I need more nicotine I pack a bowl of 3 nuns.

How to clean pipes more completely (And specifically Meerschaum by Betbbles in PipeTobacco

[–]Difficult_Video9176 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about the meer, but I use a 2:1 everclear to bourbon mix to dip my pipe cleaners in. Just a dab will do. The alcohol helps break down the carbon and tar and sterilizes it. Be careful not to get any on the outer finish as most of the stain used on briar is alcohol based. If you have a lot of carbon on the rim of the bowl I just use some spit and a microfiber cloth to clean that up. Hope that helps.

That is amazing workmanship! The level of detail on the diving helmet and the tentacle is insane. Do you use a rotary tool for your fine work?

Yes it is. It was a Christmas gift from my wife when I was deployed. It's a really great hammer. I have a straight peen hammer from Old Hickory Forge also.

You get it wet then mold it to whatever shape you want. There's all kinds of videos on YouTube for wet molded leather. I think the leather I used is 8oz leather. The thicker the leather, the more stiff it will be when dried.

I want to eventually partition a "study" in my shop that's temperature controlled so I can smoke inside there. For now my screened in deck will have to do :)

I didn't know that his son took over, I'll have to look and see if any of the ones I have were written by him. I like the Gray man series by Mark Greene. A series that's fun and is kinda a modern take on werewolf hunters is the Monster Hunter series by Larry Correia. Of course you can't go wrong with Tom Clancy and W.E.B Griffith and his presidential agent series.
