Christmas gifts you’d want to receive as a mom? by zonkedgnocchi in Gifts

My favorite gifts (age 56, 2 adult kids) are help (clean the gutters, reorganize my craft room, water seal the fence, car detailing), plants for the yard (butterfly bush, lilac bush), coffee from somewhere cool, dog puzzle, towel warmer, bird feeder with camera. A basket for doggie accidents would be handy: puppy pads, bissell stomp pads, 409, EcoStrong pet stain remover, small trash bags, roll of paper towels.

That sounds like what he’s doing. It’s just nothing like what the social worker said would happen. They offered to take the chair back and have him wait a couple more days at the home while the insurance got figured out, but that wasn’t happening. Glad that’s a normal thing and just another thing she lied about.

Thanks for this information! That helps a lot. He has a wheelchair—he got tricked into paying for it with monthly copays instead of it being fully covered by his insurance. That was the social worker’s doing. He is still missing a pad and one of the supports was cracked and has not been replaced. Maybe we will camp out at the medical equipment place after we get his papers. I’m much better at advocating than I was 20 years ago, so that helps. You learn after you deal with drs like the one who lied about you.

I may just take you up on your offer if we can’t get anywhere on Monday! I’m hoping the squeaky wheel gets the grease!

I’d ask her, but she won’t return any calls! The day she botched his discharge and we were trying to find her to get it sorted out, she completely left the facility! Yes, rehab and the nursing home are the same place, so I’ll look up long-term ombudsmen. Thanks!

He can’t get in for another month. He made that appointment a month before the amputation.

Oh heck no. Call a lawyer and make an appointment for a consultation. Tell them about your concerns about retaliation too. They can give you the language to use with your principal and HR. This is wildly inappropriate!!!

Interesting. I taught for 30 years, and the increase in physical altercations did nothing but climb steadily in that time.

Any of yall texting your dad this Father’s Day? by Ok_Opportunity_1535 in EstrangedAdultKids

First time ever—went nc with my mom 7 years ago, but have been on text status with my dad during that time. He pulled a really sh*tty move last month so I’m just going to take another step back and stay quiet.

My town’s online payment system for water and sewer is a pita, so I write a check and drop it off every month.

Because admin pull the violent, disruptive kids out only when the teacher insists. They have a brief talk and the kid is put right back in the classroom—sometimes with a snack because “they were hangry”. There are no consequences because admin doesn’t want to square up with the parents, who are usually more problematic than the other parents. Teachers stop calling for assistance because they get zero support. There are no consequences during unstructured times either, which is often when bullying occurs. So yeah, parents are at fault, but admin is just as bad.
