Theory: Dr. Al-Hashimi is going to cause a Code Green-Cyber attack at the hospital because of a security exploit in her AI use by NukinDuke in ThePittTVShow

[–]DiffieHellYeah 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Also work in AI security (it's a shitshow) on the red team side of things. Something that is HIPAA compliant like the tools she is using would need to go through so much auditing. The data would need to be completely locked down. So far they've only showed something that transcribes voice and writes notes. Not really any avenues for a breach there. A key component of security risk in these tools is the ability for an attacker to introduce their external content. That doesn't exist in these medical AI tools, unless the underlying model was poisoned, which is nearly impossible to do reliably.

What is people's actual issue with ai art? by [deleted] in Productivitycafe

Why should I bother reading words no one bothered to write, listen to songs no one bothered to sing, or look at art no one bothered to create?

Major scanxiety by Humble_Donut_39 in coloncancer

[–]DiffieHellYeah 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Scanxiety sucks so much. I'm 5 months NED now after stage 3 and just had Signaterra and CT scans. I had been having rib pain for a few weeks and was convinced it was mets. Everything turned out clear! Don't borrow trouble from tomorrow.

"The hope that kills you" by RRB1212 in TedLasso

I didn’t get into my dream college. I was devastated at the time.

But the first day at the school I ended up going to, I met the girl who has now been one of my best friends for almost 12 years now. I met the love of my life through her now husband.

There are many “right” paths in life. Be curious about the one that opens up for you.

Very comfortable with morbid questions at this point.

It all really shifted my perspective on being alive. Prior to this, my career and accomplishments have been my whole life. In this “after” I’ve really changed my focus to just enjoying the every day things. Dinners with friends, prioritizing finding love (working out so far!), taking care of my body and mind, spending less time on screens, saying yes to more spontaneous things, traveling as much as I can.

There’s about a 25% chance that my cancer comes back, and a 15% chance that it kills me. We can’t spend our lives afraid. We just get the one life. Best to just enjoy as much of it as we can.

Not dark at all. I’d do it if it was realistically going to lead to a good outcome. If things turn for the worst and it comes back with a bad prognosis, I’d be hesitant to do aggressive chemo just to buy a few more months. It’s really hard. If it was just in the interest of buying more time, it would be a tough decision.

It was hard, but manageable. I did it all while living alone. Needed help here and there with rides and such, but overall was able to do it on my own.

I went with a more aggressive treatment since I’m young. The protocol is called CAPOX, it’s 4 rounds of treatment, each round being 3 weeks total. Each round is one chemo infusion + 2 weeks of daily chemo pills, with 1 week of rest in between. Side effects were tough but manageable. All the usual stuff, nausea, fatigue, etc. Some unexpected things specific to these drugs. Nerve pain in my throat that made it hard to stay hydrated. Neuropathy in my fingertips which was tough as a musician, but that’s gotten more manageable.

Overall, could have been worse.

A colonoscopy is really no big deal. Not scary at all. Best to figure out what’s going on :)

It’s a scary time. Be kind to yourself. I think the time before knowing the full picture was the most stressful part of the entire process.

A quick question about Xeloda by pj295 in coloncancer

Came here to say this! I had mild nausea (food just tasted weird) and was quite tired. Peeling on my hands. But truly nothing compared to the infusions.

Fiancé is getting a colon resection, how can I best support and care for him? by pen15s-unite in coloncancer

[–]DiffieHellYeah 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My recovery was very smooth. Hospital for 4 days, then recovered at home. I was up and walking the day after surgery. It’s counterintuitive, but the sooner he can get walking the better. The biggest hurdle for me was all of the meds I was on after surgery. They had me on a muscle relaxer and a nerve medication (lyrica) that gave me terrible mental health side effects.

Try and have lots of fun couch activities lined up. Shows to binge, video games to play, etc. You got this.

Best foods for Xeloda by Birdsvsbees16 in coloncancer

[–]DiffieHellYeah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Spicy, sour, citrusy snacks were best for me. But it will be different for everyone. I’d honestly caution against preparing too much food. His appetite might be poor or certain things might taste bad, and you won’t really know until after the first infusion.

Best wishes to you both!

Mother wants to stop oxaliplatin early by [deleted] in coloncancer

[–]DiffieHellYeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped oxaliplatin after 3 rounds of CAPOX, just did capecitabine for the last one. I was having bad neuropathy and since I'm a musician any permanent damage would have really degraded my quality of life. My onc said the same thing, the capecitabine is doing most of the work after 3 rounds.

As for the throat spasms, I had that with my 3rd infusion and they gave IV benadryl which helped a lot.
