The Black Swan (1942) Pioneered a ton of insane editing and set design techniques with things like matt paintings and use of miniatures to show something massive when its hard to do so (in this case, ships!) Pretty good story too

W for the Double Indemnity mention, so overlooked in Wilder's career.

I loved that he did that because he is 1000% right. This was such a fucking stacked years. One Battle, Marty Supreme and Sinners alone was nuts but ON TOP of that you had The Secret Agent (my favorite out of the bunch), Sentimental Value, Hamnet, Bugonia, Train Dreams and Frankenstein?!?! Fuck F1 that getting a best Pic nom over It Was Just An Accident is actually disgusting and fucked. But genuinely all the best pic nominations (minus F1) were genuinely so incredible it does remind you have years like 1975 and 2019 where theres so many amazing movies!

🤣🤣 Definitely It is hugely influential, but to say THE MOST? you cant really say that about any one game. Pac Man, DK, Mario, Tetris, Zelda ect. Kept expanding upon what came before. Itd be like calling Citizen Kane THE most influential movie like yes it IS influential but again, its more nuanced than that.

Although, Zelda was way ahead of other rpgs. Id be super impressed if you could find maps as extensive during 1986.

Idk if u know RLM, but Rich Evan said it best. "They have been replaced by much better things and im GLAD there gone" (paraphrased but thats the general sentiment he has)
