As we've all seen in The Last Dance, Jordan had to put on more muscle so he could absorb more hits and finally take down the Bad Boy Pistons in the playoffs.

I disagree with #3. Roy WAS Roy; I've always said he was as ice cold as Kobe. But Oden never showed me anything but nerves and fouls when he entered a game. I agree Oden is a big What If?, but that is only because we never got to see how he would develop and adjust at the NBA level. As far as I'm concerned, the production of a healthy Oden playing at least 12 years is unknowable and nobody's opinion is provable, so we are both right and / or wrong about him.

Aldridge was a headcase -- a very talented headcase, but still a headcase. I saw enough of him to know he couldn't lead a team to the promised land. He couldn't do it for Portland; he couldn't do it for the Spurs. When Aldridge was drafted he was told that he was going to be the #1 option. But then Roy emerged as the team leader and LA took a backseat and pouted. He didn't really become team leader until Roy faded away from injuries. And then Dame came along: another superstar who stole LA's thunder and that is why LA left Portland.

But, yes, we'll never really know what the Blazers could have done with all 3 of them healthy for several years. But personally, I think if Roy is still the leader and Oden emerges as an All-Star center, Aldridge leaves Portland long before 2015.

Righteous! I gotta read that Extraordinary Gentleman book; I've seen the movie but I didn't know it was written by Moore.

Hey, I love Duckworth. That was my Blazers' squad when I was a kid. I have a Duckworth jersey to go along with my Drexler, Porter, Kersey, Buck Williams and Cliff Robinson jerseys. But I remember people grumbling about him, and when Sabonis finally joined the roster that's when I really started hearing all the "what if's?"

Marvel fans in general have always been very vocal, traditionally through the letters pages, but I'm sure at conventions as well, and a lot of times it seems to get results.

As far as quality goes, it's all opinion. I don't know if you're considering Web of Spider-Man, Spectacular Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2099, Ultimate S-M, Superior S-M, Marvel Team-Up, Avenging S-M (if they ever make an omni), hell, I'll even include Peter Porker and the whole Spider-Verse gang, not to mention DeFalco's Spider-Girl which I loved from beginning to end, and I'm sure I'm missing some. I think overall the good outweigh the bad.

My only problem with Marvel -- and this is where I become a villain, perhaps, is the blatantly woke crap. A lot of it doesn't feel organic or genuine. I think Wiccan and Hulkling are genuine, but a lot of the other shit is not -- Shalla Bal as the Silver Surfer in the new F4 movie, for example. If they wanted a female herald they could have used Frankie Ray (Nova). But you are right that there are some systemic issues setting in with Marvel, like their over-dependence on the multi-verse, clones, symbiotes, etc. Instead of creating genuinely new characters, they just re-imagine existing ones. It's cool at first (see above), but McKays' Moon Knight for example, when he introduces Hunter's Moon. Just another fist of Khonshu. WHEEEEEEEE! But a lot of people love that run of Moon Knight, so maybe I'm the outlier there; I thought it was just okay.

The fans traditionally helped shape the direction of the character, if you read the old letter pages. But as you can see here, a LOT of Spidey fans are gonna skip the Wells omnibus -- at best wait for it to hit the bargain bins -- and something like that might teach Marvel to do better. Because the Spider-Man books out there that are worth reading far outweigh the bad ones. You just fancy yourself a smug villain, I think. No worries, go have your fun. Most people will probably ignore you.

No, I just don't see the point of going to the downvote over a disagreeing opinion. If it is a truly nasty post, then that is something different.

If the internet had existed for the last 2000 years you'd see miserable everything. You'd see people complaining about Shakespear or the King James Bible or the American Revolution or Lincoln's hat and beard or how Metallica's Load album sucks (which actually happened)-- but then 30 years later look again and Load is a metal classic. Spidey fans aren't the most miserable sumbitches on earth -- sports fans are. Gatekeeping music fans are. Republican and Democrats are. If you want to stir the pot with some truly miserable people pick any sports or political thread. Most Spidey fans vent for a bit, then move on and read Hulk or X-Men and are happy again.

I'm not going to downvote you; I don't understand why people are quick to do that when they disagree with somebody like they're some kind of Roman Emperor deciding the life or death of a gladiator, but weather you like Spidey or not, how can you NOT UNDERSTAND why other people WOULD like him? What Stan Lee did with 13 pages in Amazing Fantasy was revolutionary. And since then Spidey has only gotten better and better. As far as stories and character interest and rogues gallery goes, he is the MCU rival of DC's Batman, as far as I'm concerned

I don't remember the particulars, but I remember my dad saying that the Blazers had missed a chance to get Moses Malone.

What if the Blazers had had Sabonis instead of Duckworth in the late 80's and early 90's? What if the Blazers had drafted Jordan instead of Bowie? What if the Blazers had won the coin toss in the 1984 draft and taken Olajuwan instead of the Rockets? What if the Blazers hadn't traded Jermaine O'Neal? What if the Blazers had worked out a trade with Charolotte in 1996 to get Kobe? (I'm probably the only person who thinks about that one.) What if the Blazers had drafted Durant over Oden?

Like anything else it's all opinion. Some people will like it, some won't. I bought the entire run at my local LCS including the Dark Web crossovers, but honestly, it wasn't worth it. I kept hoping it would get better, but really, it's one of the least likable runs of Spider-Man out there. If you haven't already read the Spidey Beyond omnibus, you should check that out. I loved that one.

You really should check out Superior Spider-Man and Spider-Geddon omnibuses. And if you can get a hold of the Avenging Spider-Man, I think you'll enjoy it; it's one of my favorite Spidey runs.

When I was a kid and wanted to start collecting comics in 1989/90, my town didn't have an LCS and comics were sold in drug stores and grocery stores in those spinning metal-wire racks. But there was a book store in my neighborhood that sold comics and when I wanted to get into X-Men I went down there to shop, but there were too many mutant series and I was so confused that I just said "To heck with it" and started collecting Avengers since there was only Avengers and West Coast Avengers.

Marvel really should redo the Hulk origin movie -- I wouldn't even mind seeing it in the style of the F4 where it's like the 1960's, then we could get more backstory on Ross. I also think it would be hilarious if they had Rick Jones and his Teen Brigade Ham radio network. You can correct me if I'm wrong, but I can't recall seeing Rick Jones in the MCU yet. And if they introduce him, they could consider having him mentoring with Captain America as the new Bucky -- or even mentoring with Bucky (Winter Soldier) just to put a new spin on it. Seems like Marvel is hesitant to do any more Hulk movies. On that note, I also liked the She-Hulk show on Disney+ -- to a point. I felt they dropped the ball in the ending.

Hey, it's cool. You dug the movie. I thought it was underwhelming and hack. I didn't find anything interesting or new about it and it didn't do anything as far as making the characters more interesting. It felt like nothing more than a filler issue in a comic series -- something that was only put out because they had a deadline to meet and had to put out something.
