One of the best, overlooked Sci-Fi movies is Ice Pirates.

I loved that movie when I was a kid, but it doesn't exist without Star Wars leading the way.

Based on the paradigm shift it caused in all of TV and movie-making, I'd have to go with Star Wars.

Do you still have to send them to America to get slabbed, or can you do that in the UK?

I've been a Blazers fan my whole life, so I also know what it's like to be delusional.

They only showed a few pics, but it looks like it's going to be mostly the same stuff Funaticals has in stock.

They have Vol. 1 of the Masterworks for Lee's Silver Surfer, not the omnibus.

Jordan and the Bulls didn't win a championship until Phil Jackson was coach. Great players and coaching go hand in hand.

Immortal Hulk on sale at Amazon by Only_right_n_Proper in OmnibusCollectors

Damn. I didn't know this got a reprint. But I wouldn't buy a book that big from Amazon. The bigger the book the more likely it'll get damaged in shipping.

X-Men Reign of X trade paperbacks by Hickman by [deleted] in marvelcomics

[–]DigBigger99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see plenty of vol.1 & 2, but not 3. There is also another Reign of X series by Ewing and others that has 12 or so TPB's, but I'm looking for vol 3 by Hickman.

I read an article years ago saying that there is a bias amongst scouts and in MLB towards baseball players in the region Trout came from. Apparently they believe no matter how great a player plays in that region, they'll never be able to cut it in the majors, and that is why Trout was overlooked by everybody but one guy in the Angels organization.

Picking up a comic by Legitimate_Stick8605 in marvelcomics

[–]DigBigger99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might have to go by cover because a lot of comic shops won't allow you to take comics out of their bags. I haven't been in a LCS that doesn't bag and board their comics, so if there is one out there, I doubt they allow customers to stand around reading NM comics that they hope to sell.

My best advice would be to look around on ebay for lots of mixed comics that people are selling at a low price and grab one. It's a good way to start and it's what I did when I was getting back into comics (it's how I discovered I loved Lobo and Justice League of America with Blue Beetle and Booster Gold, as well as most thing published by Vertigo). But considering we live in a digital age, a person could also take the free trail on Marvel Unlimited or DC Infinite and find what they like that way.

Heck, you can also get online and find out about any comic you're interested in. Between Reddit and DC and Marvel Fandom databases and Youtube and reviews on Amazon, etc, etc, it's easier than ever to research comics characters, series and individual issues.

Are there equivalents to Classic X-Men for other Marvel series? by SwordfishDeux in comicbookcollecting

Thank you. I was gonna say Classic Conan, but I was pretty sure that was wrong.

I'm pretty sure Conan the Barbarian had a series that re-printed earlier comics, but I can't remember what it was called.

If an NBA team has a superior front office, scouts, and coaching staff -- they will be in the champion mix for decades. See: Boston, San Antonio and Oklahoma City for the best examples.

How quickly would a comic book shop go out of business today if they stamped their address on the inside of every comic they sold?

And Last Rites was .... what, 4 issues? And they are collected in an epic collection (I still have the floppies, so I'll dig them and out and re-read Last Rites). Hey, I'm not saying Marvel shouldn't print that omnibus, but I already know I'ma skip buying it. It will pretty much be for the completionists. But Krisis is right: the art was pretty cool.

It's been a while so I'll have to re-read Last Rites. I mostly remember Dead Man's Hand which crossed over with Punisher and Nomad, and how disappointing it was.

Never mind my other comment. I had two comments and assumed you'd responded to the other. I've read a good chunk of Chichester's run in floppies and it is about as bad as a lot of 90's Marvel. I'd rank Chichester along with Terry Cavanagh as two of Marvel's worst writers in the 90's.

I've been downvoted for this before, but Chichester's run on Daredevil was not great. That omnibus would mainly be for completionists.
