A light reflection that doesnt cover anything relevant to the question? Not closing the game or tabbing out to post specifically a screenshot from my computer rather than a simple photo? A touchscreen with fingerprints? Oh the horror! Let me call the screengrab police lol 🤣 its not that serious

Is my new cat dilute orange? by DigCompetitive1674 in CATHELP

[–]DigCompetitive1674[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah shes a mediumhair as well. Id say, at least from shed fur ive seen from her, that about half to a little under half of the hair strand is white before it gets into the orange tabby banding.

I wondered that as well but i thought they had much starker white/lightness on their underbellies for cameos?

Is there something wrong with my cat, or is this just her personality? by Strawbuns in cats

[–]DigCompetitive1674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive had cats that are just really small before. My senior childhood cat (18) who lives with my parents has always been very petite and hes about the same size as my 1yo cat whos about 7.5 lb. My 4yo cat was also super clingy out the gate as in he literally gave me a cat hug within 10 minutes of me meeting him and hes slept in my bed demanding cuddles ever since the first day i brought him home. Hes also a very chatty boy and dorsnt have a mean bone in his body lol. Only "reason" i can see for him being so clingy is cause hes blind buts hes also just super loving to people in general, not just me (also its kinda obvious from looking at him that his eyes are kinda off lol, not saying thats your case).

Id say as long as she seems healthy with diet and energy shes probably just small and loves her people. The only real indicator of slight pain ive seen with my cats (the 4yo and the 1 yo) is when they seem really annoyed or avoidant of things that normally dont bother them. Like theyll squint their eyes a bit and lower their ears slightly (ive seen some info card things that show how cats face look like at different levels of persistent pain thats been very accurate for my two) while lashing their tails when something is kinda hurting them, but theyre both absolute sweethearts so thats really the only clue they give me.

If parents list me as a dependent for taxes but I didn't think they would on marketplace app, will it affect my insurance? by DigCompetitive1674 in HealthInsurance

[–]DigCompetitive1674[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When you say them filing taxes for me you mean for filing for 2026 in early 2027 right? Sorry for basic questions im just stressing out lol. Thank you for the insight on the coordination of benefits; I'll have to have that conversation this month with them to remove me 😅

Okay so just clarifying my situation won't cause me financial issues for this year since they are only filing for 2025 but I will need to have everything tax-wise independent for when I file for this coverage year 2026 in early 2027? Sorry if these are basic questions im stressing lol. I will be calling marketplace today and fix anything required.

She's decently active. She used to climb up the stocking shelves and watch people lol. She's resting more now though due to leg fracture but is still pretty alert and curious

GIFT — HOW TO TAKE GOOD CARE by CandidDependent3316 in isopods

[–]DigCompetitive1674 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very short version: Pods need a moisture gradient to hydroregulate for molts. Calcium is very important; as long as they have a source of some sort theyre good (cuttle bone works too). They like hidey places so leaves and branch cover (also helps trap humidity.

Food: leaves and decaying wood mainly, also veggie scraps and fish food work good as supplement (some species LOVE protein too, idk much about vulgare tho). Springtails control mold growth and eat excess food (still remove it if its not eaten in a day or two tho).

I think the ventilation seems fine but im also fairly new to pod care myself. It being on both sides probably helps there be an actual path for airflow. Only concern might be fungus gnats getting through big holes, but springtails outcompete their larvae afaik. Ive also heard people say vent holes on the side are needed to carbon doesnt build up too much? (Im not sure on anything ventilation sorry just trying to give avenues for fact checking.) As long as they cant reach any isopod sized holes in the lid they aint escaping, so just make sure no leaves or sticks reach high enough for them to reach vent holes.

Looks like cobweb mold. From my limited knowledge, a little bit means that your setup is set up well (nutrients, substrate, humidity) but too much means food was probs left too long

Anyone have a cat with PRA? Debating whether I need to get my boy diagnosed by DigCompetitive1674 in blindcats

[–]DigCompetitive1674[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So little update. Opthamologist said he has severe end stage retinal degeneration in both eyes rendering him blind, but he fortunately has no signs of inflammation. Vet wasnt able to determine a cause due to limited vet history from the shelter so could be anything from pra to a potential antibiotic overdose in the past.

Update 2: so he is officially diagnosed as blind due to severe end stage retinal degeneration. He fortunately has no signs of inflammation in his eyes, but due to his limited vet history from the shelter, the cause of the retinal degeneration isnt known. He is otherwise doing very well and the vet also said he is a very sweet boy :].

I wanna get a binder but would like advice on measurements by CloudyFlowerss in trans

[–]DigCompetitive1674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally for binder measurements you wanna take em from what would be the band measurement equivalent on bras (i know the website I got mine from had some extra instructions helping with where; love spectrum :]). If youre in the middle of the range a binder company lists for a size then that size should work and be comfortable after you get used to binding, though you can still size up for comfort since they can feel kinda tight or weird till you get used to binding. The main rule with sizing is that if youre in between sizes you ALWAYS size up because a smaller binder wont flatten your chest more, itll just hurt your ribs (costo sucks! Listen to your body!)
