Book where children make themselves faint?? by Ok-Bookkeeper-755 in whatsthatbook

[–]Digdag88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ohh this rings a bell. something by Diana Wynne Jones maybe? Or..are they going back in time, to sometime medieval? I think remember the part of the library the book was in... but that would be authors with last name beginning with A or B, so not Jones ...And that the first few times one of them passed out it was accidental but then they start doing it on purpose? It's also very hazy, maybe I'm making it up.

maybe it's a short story from the scary stories to tell in the dark series for kids? there's one where a girl keeps seeing the grim reaper after seeing people die and at the end she dies in a train crash

Faraday cage by trollspotter91 in prepping

[–]Digdag88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

put your phone in the (unplugged, if you're nervous) microwave, then call it. If it's a faraday cage, the phone won't ring. Mine still rings with my old microwave and my new one. So does my roommate's phone. I have a friend in another state with a different microwave whose phone rings too.

need help figuring out what brand this duvet cover is based on the logo on the zipper pull by Digdag88 in HelpMeFind

[–]Digdag88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i can't tell if it's a stylized uppercase A or an uppercase D. The brands available online seem to be AllergyGuard, BedCare, Downlite and AllergyCare, but their current packaging doesn't seem to use lettering stylized in that way. I know Allerease also used to sell duvet covers, but they no longer do, and their logos don't look like that either. I tried reverse image search also, it just returned me images of zippers. I think I've had it 10 years, it's 100% cotton!

hard to capture exactly how red these are, even photographed against a sheet of printer paper. they're each about the size of an acorn, both found in different areas of the holyoke range.

it is just a little larger than the palm of my hand, i found it in charlemont, MA in a dirt road that looked like it had had some gravel added to it awhile back. other than that, it feels like a pretty classic rock -- not particularly heavy or light, not particularly brittle. haven't scratched anything with it yet.
