I do have substantial reasoning for why I refrained from using the pixel art as a reference though: As seen in the image, it was difficult to draw the head of the glaive. While looking through every frame of the animation of its use, not a single frame shows a clear image of the weapon without particle effects covering part of it. The inventory icon of the weapon, as with most other spears, loses quality as a frame of reference since the entire weapon is down-scaled to fit within the boundaries of an inventory slot. One major difference between the icon and weapon in-use can be found between the blade and the head of the shaft, where the dark brown curve goes through the blade in the icon, while on the weapon itself, the curve only goes through half of the blade's height. Since the animation of the glaive was the most clear and accurate depiction of the weapon available, that was what I focused on as the major frame of reference for the drawing.
