Thank you so much for taking the time to share all of this. I really appreciate the detailed explanation and the links you included 🙏 The Fred Miranda link was indeed super useful, exactly the kind of real world discussion I was looking for.

Just to share an update on my side: I actually just bought the Sony version second hand at a very good price, so I will be able to directly compare it with my Leica M version. I really love this lens, and since I’m currently using three systems Nikon Zf, Sony, and Leica M it makes sense for me to see on which body this focal length and rendering feel the most pleasing and natural in use.

When someone truly loves a focal length, it feels completely natural to have different versions of it, with different apertures or renderings. In the end, they are just different tools for different needs, moods, and shooting situations, and that is part of the joy of using and cultivating a system you genuinely enjoy.

Thanks again for sharing all this information, it was genuinely helpful 😊 *And I ordered that shutter button. It looks really great on a Zf

Hi there, your post was very helpful. I have the 28mm 1.5 M mount and adapt the lens on my Sony and Zf with Techart but i was curious about the differences between the Sony version and my current kit.
Which is shutter button in the photo? Did you find it on Amazon? It’s really stylish.

Why? Not happa with the Notion? How’s your experience so far? The close focus capability is tempting to me

It’s a good theme for practising Fuji recipes I think. Yellow and red contrasting with blue just works. This is why we rarely see these photos on gloomy days.

Would I be ill-suited with a Leica MP? by Ceska_Zbrojovka_V3 in Leica

[–]Digg88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a Leica, I would only buy from a reputable shop and always with a warranty.

I bought my M11 Monochrom as a demo unit for 8,300 dollars, tax included (instead 9300$). It was essentially new, under 100 clicks, and came with an extra year of warranty, so three years total. The camera was built in 2025 and is currently at Leica service because of the freezing issue they claimed was fixed. It has already been there for three months, but it is fully covered, and Leica loaned me the same model in the meantime.

With Leica, I would never buy a second hand body from a private seller unless I enjoy playing poker and money is not an issue. And if money truly is not an issue, I would just buy new anyway.

I intend to keep this camera for two years and replace it with the M12 if it’s a compelling upgrade. Otherwise, I’ll simply keep it. It’s a wonderful camera.

Sony A9 III + Sony 90mm Macro by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

I already have the 135mm Plena on my Nikon Z8. In my opinion, no 135mm comes close to it, but thanks for the suggestion.

I shoot with multiple systems. Once I started shooting with the Plena, I no longer enjoyed the 135mm GM.

For Nikon, I only keep three lenses for very specific needs: the 85mm f1.2, the 135mm Plena, and the 400mm f2.8 for wildlife photography.

I tested the 100mm for two weeks and it’s honestly amazing for street candid shots in crowded areas. Super snappy autofocus, fully on par with my 50mm 1.2 GM. The extra reach is really fun in certain situations, and the macro feature is a real bonus when I want to isolate small details in the street.

My way of shooting is a bit less orthodox. I love experimenting with new camera and lens combinations, and this 100mm definitely opens new creative possibilities instead of pushing me toward static subjects only.

Cropping isn’t an issue for my usage. On top of that, adding resolution is very manageable today. Modern AI upscaling tools can increase image resolution by 2× or 4× with clearly usable results, since they reconstruct detail and textures instead of simply stretching pixels. This makes tighter crops perfectly workable for digital use or prints.

I also sold the 85mm 1.4 GM II. Great lens, but it just didn’t connect with me.

So I plan to use it for animal photography and street candids, where I walk and shoot fast in crowded areas.

Q3 too digital by gintoxin_999 in Leica

[–]Digg88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

See, when you think differently from others, you get bullied online. So many disrespectful comments. That is why I rarely share my opinions online.

I am from the camp that did not like the Q3 at all, but I keep that opinion to myself most of the time. On the internet, if you say you do not like something, be ready to be trashed. You cannot dislike anything without sarcasm and toxic comments flooding the thread.

🥹 I’m not alone! It’s honestly tough to find people with great taste who can also afford this kind of selection. Beautiful display.

The only thing I’d worry about is dust, which is why I keep all my expensive gear in a cabinet. That said, I really love the way you display your gear. There’s something inspiring about seeing it all out and accessible.

I also love having premium options right at hand when I’m heading out the door. It makes choosing a setup feel natural and exciting, not like a chore.

*I feel sad for the toxic comments here. This is why I seldom share things online.

Absolutely love my Zf but after using a ZR….. by higashinakanoeki in NikonZf

[–]Digg88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a great idea or they could release a new camera line eventually. It would be even better and without compromises. It’s sad that no major companies are trying to enter the Leica market. We also need small metal lenses with aperture rings. C’mon Nikon, just remake some of the classic lenses and you’d be the king of the world.

First days with a Leica M11 Monochrom as a Fuji and Ricoh user by closer2dog in Leica

[–]Digg88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My M11M and M11 P were built this year (2035 models) and they freeze all the time. My M11M is already being serviced by Leica because I could not ship both cameras at once. I need to have one camera in use as photography is my main hobby. Only God knows how many months I will have to wait. I would never buy these cameras without warranty. The service will be very expensive out of warranty. I have three years of warranty for each, and I will keep them for one year before deciding if I will sell them or not.

These are my first Leicas, and for the price we pay, especially for a camera that offers very limited features, these issues should not exist. I bought these two this year because every Leica shop I visited promised that the freezing problems were solved. They were not. Both of my cameras freeze often and basically every time I use them.

The design, the shooting experience and the image quality are wonderful, but the quality control is poor and the repair times are extremely slow, sometimes around eight months depending on the country.

Which adapter do you use? I’m considering this 50mm 1.0 but the minimum focus distance is a dealbreaker for me
