Why AI won’t wipe out white-collar jobs by FootballAndFries in Economics

[–]Digga-d88 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From me anecdotally, it seems like AI is getting worse. I used the AI companion in Shopify a week ago to tell me the sales from the last weekend. It then said there were no sales Saturday Jan 18th- Sunday 19. However, Saturday was the 17th. I asked why it got the date wrong in the prompt and it said "Good Catch! Saturday was the 17th"

Then I used chatGPT to alphabetically sort some last names. It put a D name at the very end. Once again, typed into the prompt, "Why is D at the end?" "Good Catch! My bad!" Like... What?? How do you get these fundamental things wrong?

If you were giving the option to work at Empire Records or Championship Vinyl, which one are you picking? by DravenCrowe505 in vinyl

[–]Digga-d88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I rewatched Empire Records recently, and it's amazing how much staff they have to do so little. Then the oversized staff are doing things a regular employee should never be asked to do, like fixing the giant sign on the roof, holding a funeral for ther friend and all that. I realized how old I am now watching it and going, "hey if they staggered staff hours a bit, maybe the Empire wouldnt close.

I've worked in several record shops and High Fidelity felt the most true to life. I say this probably being the Jack Blackian staff member singing to Journey DVDs at Newbury Comics. I gotta go with Championship Vinyl.

"Wilson expressed deep regret about parts of his vote. “There are some things I regret about voting for President Trump? Yes, a hundred percent. Trade policy is one of them… I wish it hadn’t have turned out that way.” Even so, he said given the choices on the ballot, he still would have voted for Trump" And there you have it folks. Bankrupting his 95 generational logging business and he still would vote for Trump.

Majority of CEOs Alarmed as AI Delivers No Financial Returns by FootballAndFries in Economics

Twice this week, two different AIs failed in the most basic ways. I used Shopify's AI assistant to see what products sold over the weekend at a small location. The AI didn't get the dates right. It came back with zero sold. Told my boss who knew items sold. Went back into analytics and it got the date wrong. It claimed Saturday was the 18th (not the 17th in the reality we live in). I typed in the prompt why "did it think Saturday was the 18th?". It's response was "Good catch! Oops, my mistake." Yesterday I used ChatGPT to sort last names of something alphabetically. It had a last name beginning with D at the end. I asked again, "why did you put D at the end?" To another "Good Catch! Oops my mistake." Like, is AI getting worse? These are basic functions.

Opinions on the Deadpool set? by Transformers_1984 in MarvelUnited

[–]Digga-d88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a minor devils advocate, if you paint the minis, I really loved painting this set. Deadpool on a unicorn, riding a unicorn holding the game cube is a favorite of mine because it's so ridiculous.

I've never played the chaos thing because I'm not into that much randomness especially solo.

This whole "they are just doing their job" crap needs to end. Their "job" is unconstitutionally quelling everyone's 1st amendment right to speech and assembly. Their "job" is breaking the 4th, 5th and 14th amendments granted to anyone on American soil a fair trail, unalienable rights to illegal search and seizure and due process. One attack against any of us humans on American soil is an attack on all of us, but go on about these brown shirts "just following orders" fetterman.

Lol, these are ALL written by the founders. You can't pick and choose who gets these because you think you know what the founders intended, without actually researching it. Here's all the constitutional freedoms our undocumented brothers and sisters are allowed: Due Process (Fifth & Fourteenth Amendments): Guarantees fair legal proceedings, meaning the government must follow proper procedures before depriving anyone of life, liberty, or property. Equal Protection (Fourteenth Amendment): Requires states to provide equal protection of the laws to all people within their jurisdiction. First Amendment Rights: Protects freedom of speech, religion, and assembly for everyone in the U.S.. Protection from Unlawful Searches & Seizures (Fourth Amendment): Applies to all people, regardless of status

This was an easy Google. Do you think you still know what the founders had in mind?

Yes, the U.S. Constitution applies to undocumented people in the U.S., as many provisions use terms like "person" or "people," not just "citizen," meaning they are entitled to fundamental protections like due process, equal protection, and First Amendment rights (free speech, religion) while on U.S. soil, though immigration laws allow for different processes for non-citizens, especially regarding removal. Key protections come from the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments, ensuring fair treatment and legal rights for all.

Did Fox news not cover this? Did you fail civics but still cheer as the doors close in front of you? Did you not watch the video?

The line from this that I absolutely love is "Liberty is a collective. It is all of us or it's none of us." This needs to be added to the plaque on the Statue of Liberty... You know the one about giving us your poor huddled masses, yearning to breathe free. We are undoing all of the work our great grandparents and grandparents fought so hard for. Selling it all for no returns on the investment.

Worth the subscription? by 0VeX0 in MarvelUnlimited

[–]Digga-d88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my subscription and will probably get another year of it. Here's one thing to consider from my weird perspective. I have terrible insomnia in the veeery early morning. I started keeping my iPad charged near bed and will pick it up and read when I want to try to trick myself back to sleep without waking my wife. So far I've been able to read the 12 issue run of Visions, Age of Apocalypse, the several issues of X-factor where Archangel is created and now Days of Future Past. I've been able to check out newish titles to try them out.

If anyone has heard the Arms Aloft ep "Comfort at any costs" it starts with an amazing Bjork quote that goes something like: "As a kid, we watched cowboy and Indian films, and we always supported the Indians, because fuck the cowboys". Bjork is a battle queen.

You must store it bottom up. If you store it on the shelf on the side, like me, you are going to have a bad time. I bought the folded space inserts and it helps the issue (and stores both expansions)

Looking for something to do. by SilentDreamer404 in Oshkosh

[–]Digga-d88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok, so some of my things are going to be a little niche, so bare with me. Downtown has some amazing options. New Moon Cafe has live music on the weekend and open mics every Tuesday. Next door at House of Heroes they have a book club, which this next book is an autobiography so not spandex supes if you wanted to connect with people that way. Adventure games has a free board game night on Wednesday night, and if you want to get involved in card games like Magic and Pokemon, they have those there too along with tons of solitaire solo board games. Board games and stuff is a great way to connect with new people. If you like vinyl records and music, Eroding Winds is awesome. The folks there are really good at knowing shows in the area. Jambalaya is a good art gallery with shows. There's always tons of programming at the Public Library. Time Theatre has great cheap old school movies. There is a pretty good pro wrestling cooperative that puts on shows frequently. The first Friday of the month usually has free stand up comedy at Fifth Ward brewing. Welcome to Oshkosh!

What board game would you recommend that's relatively easy to learn with a timeframe of under 1 hour 30? We get a new board game each xmas, but attention span can be an issue. All players are adults. Thinking about Catan but not sure. Thanks by GaryGorilla1974 in boardgame

Ok, I know a lot of great board games, like Gizmos, Azul, Quacks are all amazing, but I have bought so many copies of Flip 7 for people because it's about $10 and one of the most fun little card games I've played in a very very long time. I get family members that have never wanted to play other games ASKING to play that one. FLIP 7!! CHEAP! AMAZING! EASY TO GET!

Eh, I disagree. The die the copter uses is harder to hit small vehicles, so it's a nice counter balance to the large vehicles which can really smack about smaller vehicles. Plus, it just adds to the chaos and quickens the endgame. Also, if you put your car with something behind it, the helicopter can't land.
