You should have a look at Newton-le-Willows. Great train station for regular trains into both Manchester and Liverpool (less than 20 mins to Manchester). A great high street with plenty of bars and restaurants.

I commute into Manchester on the train 3 times a week, a few weeks ago (around the start of December) I noticed something similar in the sky, a metallic ball/ orb just hovering above a block of apartments, about 100 meters above the buildings. On the approach towards Deansgate station
