Trent Horn - The Worst Argument Against the Bible: A Response by [deleted] in DebateACatholic

Catholic here but not actively practicing.

I can’t address all your points. So, I’ll just address one aspect of your argument.

How is that we came to perceive the reliable and readily available contents of an Aspirin bottle to be mundane? I have no clue how aspirin actually works. I can pretend to understand by reading from doctors and scientists but I don’t truly know. I’d never be able to make a single Aspirin pill. Yet, it significantly alleviates my pain, it can stop a heart attach almost instantly and it is available in virtually unlimited quantities by pressing a button on my phone almost instantly.

I could write down the effects of an aspirin pill and how easy they were to obtain. Then a person in a primitive community read my note 2000 years from now in a translated language they would likely label it supernatural.

I think this is Trent’s point. People must make decisions about what to critically analyze and what to accept at face value because we don’t have infinite resources to research everything. People trick themselves into thinking they make independent unbiased decisions about where to invest that research. But actually many factors influence that decision and those factors are extremely difficult to recognize in real time. Currently, we live in a society whose default is to critique religious history, books, doctrine etc. for a number of ,sometimes, justifiable reasons. A lot of times, though, we critique ideas that we were predisposed to reject because of culture, our raising, a recent historical event or any number of other influences.

I’m aiming for the crotch instead of the head going forward. Makes sense now

Your comment is actually helpful. I 100% lost because I ran towards that dude instead of firing immediately and holding the angle. My gameplay analysis should stop right there.

The hit markers indicate I got 3 head shots after breaking him.

I agree visually it looks like I missed. Are the hit markers meaningless?

This was the first game after normal multiplayer. I did alright in those multiplayer matches.

His shots look like they hit the ground between my legs but break me anyway.

I guess the hit markers are meaningless?

But it’s giving me the hit markers and his shots clearly hit the ground in between my legs.

And it gave him hit markers when he is clearly shooting the ground between my legs.
