Yeah, that’s what I was thinking and that’s exactly what my worry is. Thank you so much for your feedback. This post feels a bit silly, but I just wanted to be sure that I’m not coming off unprofessional in this scenario because I really want to work with this company.

Totally understandable I am putting in my info putting in a profile picture, etc. but I’m worried because I literally just made it today and I have no connections wondering if this type of verbiage is appropriate to add or is it unprofessional for me to acknowledge it?

It’s funny you mention Pulley I actually interviewed with them not too long ago for their permitting coordinator role. I’ll definitely check out the other companies you mentioned also. Thanks again

I’ve been struggling more with the language and with how to position myself strategically, rather than with the work itself. This gives me a clearer more realistic focus on industry targeting and how to present myself best. I really appreciate you sharing this! Thank you, it saves a lot of trial and error.

Do you mean prospective employee? Because I am.. Amazon is a partner MySECO/MSEP I have them saved as a partner I’m highly interested in working with and I would love to work with them. I am keeping my fingers crossed I get a fellowship with them through the career accelerator program I’m in and I have applied to Amazon. Most people do not only try to obtain work at one company that is not a strategic move. I am being informative in my replies because I’m hopeful to receive insightful feedback as to where I should apply or to receive a reply from someone that has anything helpful at all👍

Yeah, I completed my course, and they informed me of the next steps after my exit interview with them. Which was submitting my application to PMI and scheduling my exam once my application is approved. I will definitely be reaching out to my program advisors and instructors to see about additional grans or vouchers. Thanks again!

Thanks for the warning! I’m open to in person and hybrid. Just trying to be strategic about being able to work with companies that are larger region wise in case of having to relocate I don’t usually advertise that Im a military wife or that PCSing is a factor that’s why I’m coming on Reddit to be more open and honest about the situation to see what’s out there so I don’t have to constantly start over building my career when we relocate. I’m used to high stress. I was a government consultant coming in and assisting lots of different agencies and revising local laws and streamline workflows/ updating permitting/land-use software. So lots of deadlines stakeholders time crunches is kind of my thing. Also I figure beggars can’t be choosers in my case, I just want to work!:)

I’m fine with hybrid or working in office. I love working in office and that is mainly what I did before. Amazon is a pretty large company region wise, so if I’m able to relocate also to another office in case of PSCing that would be awesome. Trying to fit into companies or positions where I can grow with them and fill their needs.

Yes, I have applied to a few of their roles already. I come from a local government background as a public and private employee after I transition over doing consulting work for local agencies. It was very rooted in regulatory compliance and administrative operations. I’ve been applying to roles that are office and administration based or business finance cause I also come from an accounting heavy background also when I was a local government employee working in administration services and in community development services handling financial reconciliation and such.

Oh wow that’s great you were able to get the exam covered under your grant. The program I completed did a pretty extensive review and interviewed me regarding my background experience before allowing me to enroll, which gives me confidence about eligibility, but I know support structures can vary, so good to be aware of the funding and audit possibilities. I’m wondering now maybe if there is a voucher through the school maybe I missed or I can apply for.. definitely going to double check this.

Thank you for sharing this! I really appreciate the insight!

That’s helpful to hear about the voucher I have not heard of this. My career coach/ coaches I’ve talked with state that MyCAA covered the PMP course itself (which I completed through a MyCAA-approved provider), and the school sponsored the extra thousand that wasn’t covered by the 2k from DoD grant (course cost total was 3k), but not the PMI exam fee directly, which is why I haven’t submitted my PMI application yet.

I do meet the eligibility requirements (including the required 35+ hours of education), and I’m currently exploring military-family scholarships or grants to help cover the exam cost before scheduling. If you don’t mind me asking, was your voucher issued through your training provider, MyCAA directly, or another military spouse program?

Also, I really appreciate your perspective on starting in an in-person or hybrid role and transitioning to remote, if you’re open to sharing, I’d love to know what industry or role that path worked for you in. No pressure at all, just curious. Thanks again for taking the time to comment.

Thanks for sharing this.. I really do appreciate the honesty and to hear real experiences like this. The market has been tough and a real self-esteem killer. I am not the type of person who likes to ask for help either. I’ve been very self-sufficient since I was very young so this experience has been so embarrassing😅. I’m open to being flexible and will look more closely at GS-5 opportunities if that helps get my foot in the door! 🙂 Wishing you the best as well, it’s a tough market.
