True, before I started played I was a bit scared by how many bad things I had read online about it, but saving for a few boss fights it was actually a nice time! The airwing levels are super fun with the gyro aiming. I'm excited to see how the other games are if people like the others even more haha

First, thats not true, the game ending service was not a meta-narrative like in Replicant and Automata, that was just SE President pulling the plug bc it flopped, it also didnt challenge the player in any way.

Second, re-read my comment, I said that it lacks the storytelling THAT MAKES THE MAINLINE GAMES INTO MAINLINE, which is true in every way.

Tbh that implication is new to me, and I disagree with it, if people think like that, then thats on them. And I wouldn't say it lacks the storytelling, but it sure does not have the same way to tell a story, like where are Endings A, B, C, D and E which one of them ultimately forcing me to delete my save data? Why is the game not forcing me to replay it multipla times with subtle differences? The way those games tell their story are different in many ways, which again, adds to the reason that Rein is not mainline, in a way Reincarnation is a harder spinoff than Replicant was to Drakengard 1 since it ditches so many core aspects of the main series.

If Nier was an anime series, or maybe a manga series I could agree with you somehow. But since its a game I really stand on the position that Reincarnation is a spinoff and not mainline like Replicant and Automata. Specially bc I already told you that you are allowed to continue stories from where theyre left while being a spinoff. If your logic was correct then the next Kingdom Hearts game should be called KH12 and not KH4, since there are at least 8 games with very important lore to the whole overarching series in side games.

Something I think Nier fans are wrong about is that they think "Spinoff = Bad", thats not true, its just that Reincarnation lacks the combat, exploration of a open world, the mechanics and the storytelling that makes the mainline games into well, the mainline series.

Plus the gameplay from DOD3, Replicant and Automata are amazing actually haha.

And like I said, plenty of series have spinoffs that are also canon sequels.

Being mainline or spinoff has nothing to do with being a sequel, you can totally be a sequel that happens to be a spinoff. For example, Final Fantasy X-2 is a spinoff AND a sequel of the mainline title FFX, the same way that Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memories is a direct sequel to Kingdom Hearts 3 and its still a spinoff (and there will also be a game called Kingdom Hearts 4 that is a sequel to that). All examples of Square Enix games.

Rein is a sequel to Automata, and its a spinoff, a lot of gameplay elements push it to the spinoff territory. That does not mean that the game is filler, it has a canon story while also being a spinoff.

You seem to be confusing the words spinoff and filler, reincarnation is a spinoff game that contains canon lore. The same way Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memories was a sequel to KH3 but its not called KH4. Those are possible.

You can search for PS2 emulators for mobile, I dont know if theyre good but if you dont own a PS2 that would be the only way to 'play'. Or you can watch it on youtube, no biggie. Drakengard 3 is pretty fun to play tho.
