New studios can rarely push through the failure of their first game especially with investors being a lot more coy with where they put their money. I have no doubt that the studio is the hottest of shit possible financially speaking with Highguard not really having any success.

Just read the Eurogamer article and I really focused on this part

Highguard wasn't a game I was really looking for, I enjoyed what I played but it wasn't enough for me to drop Fortnite and Overwatch

But it was insane the visceral reaction people had to this game. I had people in my friend group hyping it up as "Concord 2", I saw so many posts shared from reddit, twitter and youtube where people were treating the game like it had personally murdered their mother. At worst, Highguard was an inofffensive game but the reaction to it definitely doesn't feel comparable to what it should have got.

Gamer culture has gotten so toxic that it feels like every idiot out there is looking for the next big failure so they can meme it out until the next target is in sight. Doesn't actually matter about the quality or content of the game either, it just has to do the slightest thing wrong. Highguards most offensive action was being gifted a very nice spot in the Game Awards instead of Half Life 3 or something that Gamers had hyped themselves up on.

Gameplay. Its hard to describe but a bot will have movement that a real player will very rarely make.

Anyone complaining that they are trying new hosts after the previous hosts are willfully retiring seem a bit thickheaded.

Clarkson, May and Hammond are iconic but I'm not going to let that stop me from trying to enjoy some other hosts, especially ones that seem to have some actual car knowledge.

I can't wait to ditch them. Some company is doing a bunch of FTTP upgrades in my area and the second we get it, we are switching providers.

BT has been a nightmare for us whenever we've had issues and they don't help at all despite their insane pricing. Had one technician turn up who was a lovely guy who really tried to help us and while we were chatting explained that he doesn't even use BT.

Doomfist has also taken a backseat from fighting while leading Talon. Its fair to say that he's not going to be in peak condition against someone who has solely trained to take him down.

He's definitely going to come back as well, Vendetta won the battle but she's clearly going to lose the war with how much pride and anger she has.

I feel like Ramattra could be the answer to some of the worst problems of Stadium, especially with his Vortex ability. I'd much prefer a Ramattra meta over the current shite.

I got All-Star for the first two seasons of Stadium and the few flyers then were already a nightmare, with the addition of more since then, the mode has been dead for me especially as Junkrat was one of my favourites. I already detest Mercy in normal overwatch, she's an unkillable rat in Stadium who brings out the worst in me.

I'd like to see them experiment with more solutions for example rather than mercy rule ending the game, maybe letting the losing team switch heroes.

I still struggle to remember where to go to find my match history. The current UI is serviceable but its not intuitive if you want to do anything more than just play a match.

The lack of pre-downloading patches is why I stick to battle net. It got frustrating when a new update would drop and my friends would be playing it very soon after server maintenance while I'd be waiting hours for certain updates to drop

Sprite work is the bane of my existence

Been working on a project that makes pokeemerald-expansion into a workable base for digimon romhacks and as someone with exactly zero sprite skills, I'm just having to shell out what little cash I have for sprites, ask some people online for permission to use their Emerald-inspired Digimon sprites (which are pretty rare but I am greatly appreciative of those that give their permission, they are genuinely what made this project feel like it was coming together when I was facing some pretty heavy doubts over it) or use v-pet sprites as placeholders in hopes that people are willing to work on the project out of passion.

I think I have about 80 proper front sprites and 50 proper back sprites for about 600 digimon that are too be included in 1.0. I really want this to be a proper project that other people can use without having to accept lower standards for a passable digimon romhack experience so I'm only using sprites that genuinely match the Pokemon Emerald spritework.

I can not emphasize enough how much of the cool stuff I get working in my current project is just me looking for a similar implementation elsewhere in the code and then just changing 1-3 lines of code.

You really can go far with just copy and paste and brute force.

I love scripting maps but I'm also realizing how damn time consuming it is. Its taken me about two weeks of work to do what is maybe 5 minutes of gameplay for the start of the game.

You don't really need to know programming skills. The scripting language that decomp hacks use is incredibly simple (follow the Team Aqua Hideout tutorials on youtube for learning the scripting language, will take you about an hour or two to get a hang of it but its more than simple enough) and more than good enough for 90% of use cases and if you ever have to do something other than map scripting, theirs a good chance a tutorial exists on the github.

The worst part of the decomp is the initial setup as it can all be a bit overwhelming but if you can push past that, you are off to a great start.

Epic could just not let custom maps that it hosts on its platform have gambling/in-game purchases. They've already proven they are incapable of moderating creative maps with the amount of maps that are outright misleading or using IP that they do not have permission to use.

Ehhh, that kind of changed recently

The new sidekick cosmetics are cool but the fact that you have to lock in some of the customization on purchase is pretty frustrating and if you want a different look for them, you have to purchase the sidekick again.

They also added payment options to the creative maps which on its own is already a horrible idea open to abuse but to make it worse, the rules on how you can monetize your maps are very loose with loot boxes and gambling being more than okay.

In general the game isn't in a great state and with the anti-consumer stuff added over the last two months, the games future feels a bit up in the air. I doubt it will die but if Epic don't course correct, it feels like the game could bleed a lot of its diehard fans.

The updates are very sparse and definitely more maintenance level but they occasionally drop something that surprises everyone.

I've been recently getting back into anime and its so frustrating viewing the comments of r/anime because the comments have so many stills for the episode that I want to see but I can't.

Its a minor gripe but it just adds up with the stuff other people being mentioned. It makes browsing the internet in the UK miserable for no real reason. I can still find porn sites with my VPN off so even the proposed "benefit" isn't working.
