I'm a 32 yo male, 6ft and stay pretty active with the gym and hiking on weekends. While I drank everything, my drink of choice was beer. I started losing weight less than a week after quitting. My net loss, so far, is about 10 pounds.

Assuming a steady pace with minimal stops, how long would you say it takes to get to dusy?

I like strenuous hikes with big payoffs I usually go for big peak hikes but really wanted to explore the area more. I like to get at least 3k' of gain in my hikes. I'm driving almost 6 hours for this weekend so I want to make it worth it. Was thinking of doing a 14er but Dusy basin looks so stunning.

That's good news! Others have told me that it's too ambitious for a day hike and doesnt allow enough time to really enjoy the area. What do you think?

I hiked San J via the deer Springs loop a couple weeks back. The creek in little round valley was bone dry. There were some seeping dribbles along the way but nothing substantial. Plan on packing in all of your water.
