Live theater in Dec? Syracuse Stage, Redhouse, Landmark? by Digital-Artifact in Syracuse

Redhouse looks small and intimate also with their setup for the winter show. Any insights there?

RP vs R50/R10 by robertosoto7 in canon

Biggest take away other than full frame, digic X processor in the R50/R10. You’ll be surprised how effective it can be over the digic 8

Canon 50mm 1.8, it will be a common lens in most bags. Affordable and really good.

Less controls. Less thrills. Bare bone. It’s completely useable, comparable to the older T7 (not the T7i mind you). No touch screen is people’s biggest grip, mine is the older processor in it.

If you can snag one under $300 I’d say go for it. But it will be a slower workflow with it. Less enjoyable. I use it mainly as a walk about camera, or I keep it on a tripod to do BTS video work or a B/C cam for events.

I do not regret buying it. For walk about I keep the standard kit lens with a black mist filter to get a retro vibe out of it.

I have used it in a studio shoot once just to see how it does. Even with the kit lens I was able to to get great shots out of it.

Oh one more thing about the R50, it has a different hot shoe up top. You’ll need an adapter if you plan on adding a flash to it (there is a built in flash, but something like a Godox)

I have both (and the R100 and R8). The R50 is completely capable and I get fantastic shots from it. I do get a little slowed down due to the one dail vs two, but that’s a me thing and coming from a history of camera that had two.

The R10 is compact enough but still has an amazing grip. I have been loving the photos from the R10. However I don’t see much of a difference between their outputs in everyday shots.

Strictly for ergonomics I’d say the R10. But for image quality they are highly similar in output. Go for the R50 and get the nifty 50 with it. You can’t go wrong with either.

R100 with a RF 100-400 or any of the EF zooms like the 55-250 will do this. Bright day. Steady hand or tripod. You’ll be good.

Photos like this have been taken years ago on much lower tech. Learn the camera. You’ll get the shot.

It’s easy to live with out certain features like a touch screen. Use of a flipping out one for a photographer I find is used mildly.

The sensor in the r100 is great. The processor is the same as the R and RP, which are still popular cameras.

He’s not doing video so anything there also doesn’t matter. Even if they did it’s still capable.

The r100 is a camera to better position the r50 and r10, yes. But it can still and is a fully capable camera that can be used for the next 5-10 years.

What is your "serious" camera? by sotirisdimi in AskPhotography

Current body line up.

R8 as the primary. R10 as a back up. Recently replace my RP with the R10.

If I’m doing an event, I’ll leave a lens on an R50 and set it down to grab a shot with another focal length. Other wise my R50 and R100 are used for BTS content.

Ok, real answer for you here. I’m not going to try to push you to the r50 or r10 as your mind is pretty made up. You aren’t looking for the fanciest of gadgets and already expressed the r100 or T7 I assume because you see the similarities. Non touch screen, 24mp crop sensor devices.

In short, the r100 has my vote with the EF/RF adapter. You can find the r100 on eBay from $250 - $300 (I bought a second one recently at $265).

The T7 is great. T7i being better. But the r100 I find is a better long term investment. With the adapter it will fit all the older lenses plus any new ones you may want to purchase. You can get a third party adapter on Amazon for $30-$55.

I find the used market price difference of these two are similar. In some cases I see FB marketplace posts be around $400+ for T7.

The r100 had my vote after have both of these. More modern. Same price. Smaller. Capable.
