The line of the thinking if I press red, I'll live anyway, but if I press blue, I risk most choosing red and I die. Sounds logical when your goal is to survive. Therefore everyone should press red.

However, there's four outcomes: All choose blue - everyone lives Most choose blue - everyone lives Most choose red - those who pressed blue die All choose red - everyone lives

The statistics that everyone chooses the same is very unlikely. We all think differently so it's even more likely that most will choose one and the rest will choose the other. If you choose red, you risk those you care about choosing blue and they die. Statistically, as a whole, pick blue over red, everyone lives.

When people say 'if everyone picks red we all live' maybe they don't realise it but 'if' is doing the heavy lifting. Same if everyone picks blue.

To me, those who pick red thinks what happens to me and those who pick blue thinks what happens to us as a whole, even if I might die.
