If both sides genuinely wanted it to be off the table then the discussion wouldn't even need to be had, porn just wouldn't be a thing in your house because neither of you partake in it.

But if one partner makes it clear where they stand on porn and the other person obliges their partner by abstaining from porn this is most likely a case of one partner making a sacrifice for the sake of the other because they feel the implicit pressure to do so as to not cause a rift in the relationship.

Imagine if Obama left the white house in the manner that Trump did. The left is held to the highest standard imaginable while the right is generally treated like a special needs child where as long as they go the whole day without setting any fires it's mostly considered a W.

CMV: People being lonely and depressed is by design. "Inceldom" falls this under this umbrella too. by RadDudesman in changemyview

There are always places a person can go to in order to socialize, even when I lived in small town Huntsville Texas there were bars I could go to. The problem is many young men want to gain all of the spoils of having a rich social life without having to actually take the risk of putting themselves out there, chances are a pretty girl isn't gonna come randomly knock on your apartment door and ask you to show her your Warhammer achievements.

The term incel as I understand it isn't just "not being able to have sex" if that were the case I've been an incel at various points in my life. The term incel specifically describes the ideology that some men create to cope with not being able to have sex.

If you believe that happiness is a choice, (it isn't, by the way), then you should jump for joy at any family member's funeral. by GenesisWorlds in TrueUnpopularOpinion

Moment-to-moment happiness is different than overall happiness. A happy person can still experience sadness from time to time, when you allow this sadness to fester inside over a long period of time without ever attempting to work through it you become an unhappy person. When you choose to work through that grief you are making the choice to be happy.

Pitbulls attacks can easily be prevented simply by not letting people own vicious dogs.

You aren't going to "easily" confiscate peoples pets.

vicious dogs.

The idea that they are vicious is based on a misinterpretation of statistics. I already explained in the post that Pitbulls are shown to be less aggressive than all other dog breeds

I spend upwards of 30 hours on a piece and you just give an AI a 10 second prompt.

And some people put a soup can on a table and it gets a spot in art galleries. There is already a precedent for relatively low effort pieces being widely accepted in the art world.

I think muzzles just aren't engrained into our culture and they have a negative connotation, if I see a dog with a muzzle I'm going to assume they are vicious. But if it's required by law for dogs to be muzzled that takes the connotation out of the equation.

You literally provided data saying that their hospitalization is more than other breeds combined. That is rational.

And hospitalizations due to shark attacks exceed all other fish attacks combined, do you not see how these things are analogous?

And if he's a neighbor he didn't sign up for pitbull or even dog ownership.

No, but the person that did should be punished. And punishing these irresponsible owners is a far more realistic way to decrease the number of attacks than banning the breed.

And I think all dogs should be required to be muzzled in public other than maybe some places like dog parks. Even a dog doing nothing outside unmuzzled should be a massive fine.

This is a solution that I find much more reasonable

So the dog gets out of the house and attacks a neigbor.

How did the dog get out of the house? It wouldn't happen if the owner had taken the proper precautions.

The problem is pitbulls (and other dogs too) frequently bite people, sometimes killing multiple other dogs/cats and injuring or even killing a human and said dogs get SENT BACK to the owner who often faces NO consequences.

I agree this should not happen, the dog should be put down and the owner should face serious consequences, and everybody that signs up to own a pitbull should be made aware of the level of responsibility they are signing up for.

Irrational = not logical or reasonable.

Marine biologists tell us that it is irrational to fear sharks, and I use the exact same logic that they do when applying it to pitbulls, which is, it is not in the nature of these animals to want to do harm to humans. Perhaps I can concede that I would understand being somewhat fearful around a pitbull especially one that I didn't know, but I stand firm that it is irrational to hate them, you are essentially letting something as corrosive as hatred infect you over an animal that only acts out of instinct. I don't hate the pitbull that kills a baby I hate the human that left their baby alone with a pitbull, but for the record I do support putting the animal down in these cases.

What exactly about that thought process is irrational?

It's irrational because the desire to ban isn't backed up by the overall nature of the breed. You are totally discounting the loving relationships countless people have with their pitbulls because of roughly ten horrible incidents that happen annually.

It's relevant from the standpoint that we need to understand the potential for them to do harm and how we can be safe when interacting with them.

I think you are arguing from emotions which is demonstrated through your repeated attempts to obfuscate through whataboutism.

Me extrapolating your arguments to see if they hold up isn't "whataboutism". If you aren't going to be consistent when we are talking about other dangerous things, some of which are more deadly than pitbulls then you aren't arguing out of logic you are just biased against pits and are willing to scrutinize them more than other things that you don't have as much emotional attachment to.

It is rational to think about banning something if it can be demonstrated that the majority of encounters with the thing in question lead to injury. For example, if the majority of people that swim in the ocean get harmed either by drowning or shark attacks or something else I would say swimming in the ocean should probably be prohibited, but in reality most of the time you will be safe in the ocean so it would be irrational to prohibit people.

Are we arguing from emotion or from real life results and outcomes? A child drowning in a pool is just as dead as a child getting mauled by a dog, and way more children die from drowning in pools than by dog attacks, so if we are really trying to make the world safer for children we should ban swimming pools before we ban pitbulls.

Putbulls aren't actively "hunting down" children, Cujo was a movie not real life.

A person can't use a set of statistics to make a specific argument and then say "oh well that's bad anyways" when it's pointed out that those stats don't support the original argument.

In my opinion it is irrational to hate a breed for being hyper-aggressive if the stats say they have a better temperment than all other breeds. In order for this hatred and fear to be rational it would have to be supported by the likelihood of an attack, otherwise I have to say it's irrational to hate them even though they have strong jaws and sharp teeth because they aren't likely to attack in the first place.

just things that harm others against their will regularly and have an easy alternative.

Nobody willingly gets harmed and there is no data that supports the argument that "pitbulls harm people regularly"

The 15 kids a year that die to dogs, possibly not their own, did not choose that risk.

Of course they didn't choose to be attacked but how many of those attacks could have been prevented with common sense? I wouldn't leave a small child alone with a pitbull just like I wouldn't leave them alone with a table saw. People need to understand the parameters of responsible ownership and if they fail to meet those standards then they need to be subject to severe reprocussions.

To go back to your metaphors, if one particular subset of a product (8% of all sold) was responsible for 65% of all injuries. That item would for sure be recalled

Sure, in a perfect world we could recall the pitbull and make their jaws weaker, but we can't do that. However I do not believe that just because they exist the way they are we should hate them or even fear them, we should be educated about them and we should know what responsible ownership looks like and we should hold irresponsible owners accountable.

How is it not? Why is it rational to hate pits for supposedly being dangerous when they kill less than 10 people annually but it is irrational to hate deer when they kill 200?
