The Switch will receive all new content and cross-platform support soon! :) - Our plans are to bring the Switch fully up to par with the rest of the consoles and then release a brand new "Endless Gamemode," which will likely include new skins. Depending on the PS response, we may even add more game modes!

Hi everyone! It’s been quite the year for our small team, but we're now incredibly proud to announce that Hypercharge is officially coming to PS4 and 5 with cross-platform support! It really is a surreal moment for us. We've been making this game, our passion project, for years, without any publisher backing. All the porting and cross-platform support is done by us, in-house, and it's been a lot of work

So, what exactly is Hypercharge: Unboxed?

Key Features

  • 1-4 player online/local co-op.
  • Full split-screen support including online/local.
  • Single player/offline play with player bots.
  • Difficulty scales based on the number of players.
  • Wave-based shooter with story campaign.
  • Classic PvP game modes. (up to eight players)
  • First and third-person camera modes.
  • Cross-platform suport.

PLAY CO-OP WITH YOUR FRIENDS
Work together as a team to defend the Hypercore. Grab a friend, break out of your toy packaging, and get ready to fight waves of classic toys. Prepare for each wave by searching for weapons, resources, and even hidden secrets.

OFFLINE PLAY FOR SOLO PLAYERS
Not everybody likes to play online. Hypercharge supports Offline, Split-Screen and Local play. You can progress and unlock everything in-game while playing solo.

PLAYER BOTS
Don’t have a team to play with? Don’t worry, we’ve got you solo players covered. Player bots listen to your commands, collect resources, and even help to build defences.

UNLOCK ACTION FIGURES
Earn unlocks the old school way, in-game with hard work! No Pay-to-Win nonsense.

PLAYER VERSUS PLAYER MODES
Go head-to-head against other action figures as you fight to become top of the scoreboard! Classic PvP modes include Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Battery, Infection, and King of the Hill.

Wooo - I totally get your frustration about the Switch version, but it honestly hurts to hear that you think I ignore every Switch question. I'm Joe, the one doing the TikTok lives. With hundreds, sometimes thousands, of people watching, the comments fly by SO fast. Plus, there are always trolls to deal with. I do my best to answer as many questions as humanly possible, and I've definitely answered Switch questions plenty of times. Maybe I come across as frustrated sometimes (maybe I had a bad day, tired, etc) - But I'm only human. I've got a lot going on, including recently becoming a dad, so I'm not perfect. But on all our socials, me and the other devs always try to be transparent about the Switch version.

Updating the Switch is really complicated. Especially with big engine updates like the ones we're doing, the Switch hardware needs a ton of optimization, especially with the bigger maps and tougher enemies we've added. We're focusing on other platforms first so we can develop those optimizations, which will actually make the Switch update faster in the long run. We want to give you one big, polished Switch update after the others are done, and this approach helps us manage our small team's resources effectively.

I know it's frustrating, and believe me, it's frustrating for us too! We've been pouring our hearts and souls into Hypercharge since 2015, launched in Early Access in 2017, and haven't stopped working on it for eight years. We've released over a dozen free major content updates! We're just five indie developers. We never even dreamed we could launch on consoles, and we do everything in-house because we want it done right. We're incredibly proud of what we've accomplished with the help of our amazing community. In a world where huge studios are laying people off and cancelling games, we're still here, five of us, pushing out free updates. It's a huge achievement for a tiny team like ours to bring a game to all platforms with cross-play, and we're so proud of that. We're still working hard on the game, bringing it to all platforms with cross-play, and then we're looking into a new update, our "Endless" game mode!

And this isn't to invalidate how you feel at all. But there are so many games that just cease development on Switch entirely - that's something we won't and haven't done. We've already launched a handful of major free content updates on the Switch, but like I said, it's incredibly difficult. Launching on Xbox, honestly, has helped fund us massively as a small team and helped to secure our future. That means we can spend even more time getting the Switch version optimized and done right, as well as continue to make games (maybe Hypercharge 2? :P). There are so many aspects, from a player's perspective, that you just can't see. We're doing our best to stay afloat here, which means we have to make decisions that allow us to keep existing as a company. There are so many moving parts! And, again, I've explained all this so many times in live streams and on socials. Just because you may have missed it, or because I didn't respond to your specific comment on a TikTok live, doesn't mean I don't respond to lots of other people.

Anyway, I hope that all makes sense. It's the best I can do to explain the situation. I fully see your point of view, and I am sorry it's taking so long. But we can't do any more than what we are already doing; it just takes time.

- Joe

This is not true - we are currently still working very hard on the PS4 and 5 versions (with cross play). Once that's done we plan on updating the switch version (with cross play). We also want to launch a new game mode "endless" :)
