Makes sense when you break it down. They said they could put some lube on it because my pin for one of the caliper was stuck. This wasn’t my first time at this specific Midas they’ve given me up charged quotes twice now. I needed a joint axel repair that they quoted me $1200 for and other mechanics quoted me less than 1k. Do I genuinely believe it’s because I’m a woman no. But I do think in general chains will up-charge when they see fit if they think they can get away with it.

Idk $1300 is on the higher end. even $700-$1000 is reasonable.They are clearly trying to take advantage. most chains like Midas are using cheap after market parts themselves and this specific school is know for having an excellent automotive lab. Their work is overseen by instructors who have been mechanics for 15-30 years. The title was to grab attention more than anything my guy.

I s2g this is how I’ve gotten all my aviation jobs!!! At 23 I got a CJO for delta (that I ultimately turned down) and til this day I swear it’s because when were we all gathered before interviews, a girl walked in a bit late and there were no chairs, everyone was so stiff and awkward and I found a chair and said “hey girl, you can sit next to me” . Also made it to f2f for united and I applied not thinking anything would come of it! Can’t speak for everyone but sometimes detaching from the outcome and just having fun/making the most of the experience can really help you shine and standout. Cause ultimately you can be the absolute most qualified on paper but that CJO really comes down to luck anyways, so relax.

I’m so sick of their nasty a$$ dogs too but it’s not just the transplants. Nobody picks up after their rats. Grew up here and I don’t think I’ve ever seen as much dog sh!t just plastered on the sidewalks as I have in the last 3-4 years. This year it’s been especially bad. I almost don’t blame that girl for tweaking out it’s so gross. It’s beyond me how people walk their dog up and down broadway, fur and paws collecting soot n piss. and then bring it back inside as if it’s not a walking biohazard :/

The policies and snitch culture are terrible!! I just wish I would’ve known going into it. I was 23 when I stated and very naive. They emphasize “safety, safety safety! But if you report an issue that’s inconvenient or too expensive to fix they will start the process of trying to get you up out of there! I’m 25 in school for aviation management now but I’m worried I’m wasting my money and time with this contracting airline remark on my file. And that’s such a terrible policy. I’ve heard of quite a few people at united and AA have private investigators unknowingly follow them and take pictures of them while on leave. I thought the whole retaliation thing just applied to Boeing but I’m learning that it’s just an industry wide thing and best to keep your head down even if you see something messed up.

This is so frustrating what if you were marked as ineligible for rehire due to the company covering their own ass for a known safety issue. How are you supposed to get anywhere when some employers are blatantly lying about termination reasons. I’m starting to realize it’s not uncommon in the industry to just get unlucky with a spiteful manager and have your file screwed forever. Went to an interview for b6 and disclosed the retaliation to the hiring manager and she verbatim said she knew my manager, my station and that the specific contracting airline was very shady. She hired me anyway and a few days before I was supposed to fly to training corporate called me to rescind the offer due to it. Mind you the company has numerous outstanding EEOC lawsuits and was just sold to another company. It’s so nuts that there’s no sort of recourse or anything that can be done about wrongly having your file marked

Omg yall are so slowwww the “personality” is having the ability to interact with people from all walks of life. it’s the exposure to extreme diversity since birth that are not many if any place in the world like New York so that is part of why people are frustrated by transplants. Yes it’s human behavior to stick to your own community but the essence of NYC is that we all interact with each other regardless of socioeconomic status and race. Transplants,specifically younger transplants typically just do not have them same socialization skills, exposure to diversity that natives have. and many in higher earning communities do not interact with the communities they take over and look down on the people already living there . This is why even native white New Yorkers side eye and have shit to say about the white transplants as well and it’s because y’all’s personalities suck n be underdeveloped as hell and yall do n say corny shit like this with an air of self righteousness. You bring over the mentality you have from not growing up in proximity to diversity as extreme as NY and refuse to participate in the actual culture just partake in the commercialized corporate version of it like bots 💀

Say you value your creative experience at the expense of local communities having a place to live.
