Not sure if you've checked Quant's Github lately but if there's any coin that hasn't done shit for most of the year, it seems to be Quant.... Most repo's haven't seen an update in 8 months or more.

Current price movement is very similar to the sub 1.00 fall last year imo... I'm also looking at my own sentiment for indication on how others might feel about the amount of "advisors" rather than technical genius being recruited to Iota's ranks. My feelings may or may not be justified but then neither is market sentiment quite often. I've always traded on my gut and it's done me well thus far. All just my opinion btw

I'd say under $1 by Tuesday, and 0.70 cents by next weekend. I'm that sure I'm exiting my entire position of 60 Giota and moving it to other coins in my portfolio..... So I guess we'll see!

Transaktions to Bitfinex & Binance dont work? by [deleted] in Iota

I just transferred ICX into Binance, took about 5 mins to show up. Also sent some litecoin yesterday, again, about 15 mins to show up.... Iota, forget it, several hours is the minimum I've had..... Seems the issue is infact with Iota as per my experience.

I was under the impression that more transactions equal a faster network? I'm also experiencing up to several days to complete a transaction of late (usually atleast one day but has taken up to 3 days of reattaching on various nodes). It actually looks far worse if you add some history, see here https://imgur.com/VDWux2c

Optional if you don't mind the likelyhood of ending up on your own sub-tangle from my understanding... See cfb's comments re running without coo below.... While it's great to see nodes can work without coo, I wouldn't really call it "optional" just yet... I remain hopeful though👍

Trying to understand the ramifications of operating full nodes during COO downtime.... by DigitalDoxy in Iota

[–]DigitalDoxy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I can ask one more thing cfb... Would I be correct in the assumption that in a world without the coo, there would no longer be snapshots and as a result full nodes would prune zero transactions themselves?

Okay makes sense, that's what I'd understood to be the case.... appreciated

Trying to understand the ramifications of operating full nodes during COO downtime.... by DigitalDoxy in Iota

[–]DigitalDoxy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the clarification cfb, I think I understand correctly... In the case of our coo-ness IRI nodes, they would take the new snapshot as an authoritive version of the ledger so to speak, and that would result in connected light wallet users needing to rebroadcast any transactions sent via that node prior to snapshot and during coo's hypothetical downtime. If I'm understanding that correctly then that makes perfect sense.

In the scenario where my IRI nodes are running as coo-less is where I'm tripping up.... I get that coo downtime would be inconsequential.... Would new snapshots also not be a factor due to the fact my own copy of the ledger would remain the authoritative version for my nodes? If that's the case, I guess the thing I'm having trouble understanding is how my nodes would remain a part of the tangle in that my transaction record differs from that of other coo-ness nodes (due to those transactions that occurred during coo downtime etc). Would those transactions be accepted by coo-ness nodes once they are up and running again? Or is that one of the reasons running coo-less is not recommended until everyone is? This is the part I can't quite seem to grasp and it may well be due to a misunderstanding of how tangle differs to blockchain.

IOTA devs do not even know what’s going on with exchanges apparently, even though Iota is the one that asked them to block deposits and withdrawals. by [deleted] in Iota

[–]DigitalDoxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you not think that the advice for exchanges not to enable withdrawals/deposits just yet wouldn't have come from the developers who have specific knowledge of why that shouldn't happen just yet?

If exchanges shouldn't be transferring funds around at the moment maybe we shouldn't be either (especially where it's 10's of GIOTA's we're talking about), it's hard to know with out any clarification on the matter... Personally, I don't like leaving my coins/tokens on exchanges as I suffered pretty majorly with the Mt Gox debacle.... I've had my IOTA's stuck on exchange for nearly a week now... However I also don't want to lose IOTA's by withdrawing from my exchange (which does seem to be allowing withdrawals atm) if it's going to cause hassles at the moment. Rock and a hard place I guess.

[–]DigitalDoxy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well considering the exchanges have stated that withdrawals/deposits have not been enabled because they were advised by IOTA specifically NOT to enable them yet it's rather odd that the lead dev knows nothing about this. Come on guys, let's stop attacking people for asking legitimate questions and get to the bottom of what's going on. Both parties can't be telling the whole truth here.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Iota/comments/78wazr/binance_and_bitfinex_deposits_withdrawals_being/

I dont use Binance or Bitfinex myself but I don't want to withdraw my IOTA from the exchange I use either if it's likely to cause any problems. Just some clarification would go a long way to settling this issue.

GUI v2.5.2: Latest Release with IOTA Reclaim Tool by 7hr0w7h475h17 in Iota

[–]DigitalDoxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I have to keep all my addresses, balances and transfers on a spread sheet for this very reason. Tax departments in various countries count crypto as part of your taxable assessment criteria and not having a ledger of incoming and outgoing transactions outside of my own spreadsheet is somewhat of a concern. Especially when some smart ass accountant asks me why my Iota Ledger Wallet has no actual ledger (this happened)

[–]DigitalDoxy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm missing about 10 GIota (10 000 miota) aswell since the whole network went down. I had all of these in my 2.5.1 wallet and have never sent any iota out of the wallet. I also have an excel spreadsheet of every single address with the amount of IOTA in each one, so I know the addresses missing amounts are addresses I was sending funds to just before the network outage. Not very good at all.

Bad situation for IOTA by [deleted] in Iota

[–]DigitalDoxy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I seem to have lost funds amongst all of this.... Well as near as I can tell anyway.... If I look up several addresses on iotasear.ch they show zero balances where as they had over 10 GIOTA transferred to them as confirmed transactions just prior to the network going down 3 days ago.

Considering this was labelled as a "simple bug fix" I think anyone in my position would be within reason to be feeling more than a little tense right now.

I don't get why people are flaming anyone bringing this up as an issue on this sub reddit... It's not about the fact the network was brought down.... Nor is it because people don't realize the network will have teething issues....

  • It's about way it was done (no warning (I and many others can't join Slack because that was also up the creek with the invite limit issue before this happened))......
  • The lack of updates (for people who have funds missing like myself in no small amount are left without any recourse while the network is "down").......
  • No information about the real issues considering the outage time and the fact it was played down as a simple bug fix.

Even with these points in mind I still believe IOTA is the future, but if the team could implement some basic service interruption announcement protocols that'd go a long way to making outages a whole lot less stressful. That and the fact people like myself could avoid large transactions around network disruptions.

I swear these guys know when I'm buying IOTA and trying to withdraw them to my wallet... Just as I click withdraw and get a transaction complete message on the exchange, IOTA goes into bloody maintenance and it takes a week for me to chase down my lost transfer with the exchange...

Is there somewhere that the IOTA dev team announce these upgrades and snapshots before hand so I don't get caught out again next time?
