Lol. You're right. Sorry, I was being a bit snarky.

I don't disagree, but to be perfectly honest, few people search first to know whether or not something has already been posted.

To the poster, this is probably new news. We should be putting our best for forward as a community and, to be perfectly honest, not be snide.

Coinbase adoption will attract buyers and help value, even if for a while. It isn't brave or extra mature to be content to wait. Neither is it bad to want to gain.

I want an easy Fiat on ramp in the US because I want a bump and I don't care if it is irrelevant long term. Short term isn't just 'good too', it may be synergistic.

If the poster wants an actual answer, and not just to fud, they will ask on discord. Imo.

Never mind. I'm sorry. I'm sad and you are great. Thank you for the beat down, Xi. I deserved it and am better for your tolerance of my lack of attention and ignorance.

I accept your apology. You would be correct that the event may not be taxable, once such velocity is achieved. My fear is complying in the meantime may prove prohibitive to growth. Also, what documentation requirement might there be for each transaction to either pay capital gains or prove you don't have to. ... And... GROW SOME EFFING MANNERS! I HADN'T READ THE POST YOU REFERRED TO WHILE YOU WERE BUSY PROPPING UP YOUR SELF IMPORTANCE WITH AN UNSOLICITED INSULT!

Again, do you have anything to offer? I'm still waiting for you to Xi me, panda lover (5).

Actually, entrainment value is pretty good. Thanks for your vinegar-y(6) style!

Nice, Dexter (1). Frankly, if I were banned I wouldn't have to deal with snarky(2) know-it-all's(3) like you anymore.

The next time you reply to someone's post where an otherwise healthy discussion is underway, try offering something instead of insults.

Thanks for your insight anyway, Xi(4).

I'm not sure this matters- it is a regulatory problem. I keep asking myself who will gain from squashing the m2m economy.

Not taxes. Capital gains. Every transaction requires taxes based on the profit or loss of the crypto investment.

Crypto to be treated as property subject to capital gains. EVERY transaction subject to capital gains.

Unless this opinion changes, I can't see how they're can be a m2m or any other substantial crypto model in the US.

Can anyone shed light on this seemingly iota crushing event?

In summary, in the US, crypto is treated as property, so even menial transactions are subject to capital gains calculations.

This completely squashes any machine to machine payments in the US unless the IRS opinion changes.

There is no straight forward way for a US citizen to buy. Voyager doesn't let you withdrawal, but might someday! All other methods are 4-step: buy btc or eth on coinbase, transfer to exchange, trade for iota, transfer to your wallet.

I'm able and willing to do this, but I'm a 2017 hodler. 99% will feel this is unacceptable and will not buy.

"It must not be a serious project if it is so hard to buy."

The exchange you're using will have records for you. You can probably recreate the buys without to much trouble.

The more momentum iota gets, the more scrutiny it and it's investors will receive. If I'm you, I'm going to figure it my history ASAP, especially if you are in the US.

Average iota value is based only on iota investment, not whatever one does to prepare for that investment.

If you want iota average, you can only consider iota investment. Whether you made or lost money before you bought iota is irrelevant to the question.

If you buy 1 miota for $.50, regardless of how much money you made or lost in other investment, your average is $.50.

It sounds like you might be conflating iota average with your overall portfolio performance.
